josh einiger posted video of the suspect on twitter. apparently this morning. the suspect now linked to other crimes within hours of the latest attack. josh einiger on the scene. >>> cops say this suspect set out early this morning with one a woman. he tried in two different locations but failed then he arrived here at this building at the baruch houses where he was able to walk through that door which was supposed to be locked. once inside, he stalked his prey. >> reporter: a team of housing this building in the baruch houses to fix the lock that's meant to keep intruders out. didn't work this morning. >> why did it have to happen now for them to fix the doors? >> reporter: police say this man had been trolling lower manhattan, hunting for a woman to rape. he followed a 33-year-old in to her james street apartment building and grabbed her but she fought him off. he then followed a 24-year-old woman in to her building but she screamed and he fled. an hour after that the baruch houses. he walked through the unlocked door and up the stairs, encountered a 40-year-

josh einiger is at the scene. josh. >> reporter: and bill, it's a mark of how seriously police are taking this case that so many hours later crime scene investigators still search for clues. the gunman was described as a man in a gray hoodie. police sources tell us they might just have video of him from a nearby gross rei store. police spent all night searching for evidence outside the utica avenue ac stop. >> everybody scattering, running. it was scary. >> reporter: after a hail of gunfire at the height of rush hour. >> i heard one shot, then i heard a series of shots. >> we didn't know where it was coming from, who was shooting. it was an officer in the train station so he came out, and he was like, which way did he go? >> when were shot in the back. one of them, cops believe, the intended target. the other, an innocent bystander. investigators believe this may be the gunman caught by surveillance cameras in a nearby grocery store minutes before the shootings. >> it seems as though he came out, doubled back into

eyewitness news reporter josh einiger has more. >> it brings new meaning to the term sugar baby. this little girl in what appears to be a cinderella outfit apparently enlisted by the adult with her to steal an entire halloween display from jones' front porch. >> it's not the candy. it's more the principal of the entire situation. >> reporter: the staten island woman said she set out two tubs of halloween knies along with a sign admonishing trick or treaters to take no more than two pieces each. they made off not just with mounds of candy but also both containers that held them along with this teal colored pumpkin for treats with kids with food allergies. >> i take the time. i care about the kids. i always do. that's what i really wanted to do. that's what hurts the most. >> reporter: she can't figure out how an adult could set such a sour example for a little girl who clearly knows no better. there isn't exactly a trail of wrappers to follow but jones did provide police with that video along with this picture of what she says it is the suspect's suv shot by a neighbor's security

josh einiger is there sorting it all out. josh? >> reporter: yeah, these stories evolve when they first break, and this is a prime example of how the details can change really by the minute. we'll show you video of this scene as it began to unfold. afternoon in the wake field sector of the bronx at the corner of monticello and 241st street. we know both the suspect and the victim of this stabbing were 22-year-old women, we know that one of them was pregnant, fairly full term according to neighbors here. one of them stabbed the other one, killing the other one, and then was taken into custody. it's not clear right now as you say, bill, which of the two, the suspect or the victim was the pregnant woman. we are also hearing reports that the pregnant woman did deliver her baby and the baby is okay. so that's what we know right now as we come back to a live picture here. this is a very extensive crime scene as detectives continue to sort this out. it's been confusing for us, and you can imagine it's confusing for them trying to make sen
