this past weekend i was with josh gottheimer at the ceremony. i saw him there. of course, is a progressive -- excuse me, a moderate democrat who works in the problem solvers caucus, and he was in his district in new jersey and i heard so many people come up to him and say, just get stuff done. so presumably, whether or not they know the specifics or they feel the tangibles, they are going to see that that's exactly, for the moment, what the president and what washington did in a bipartisan way. >> yes, and, like you mentioned, we have the president say that several times. not just that we're working in a bipartisan way, but that he's listening to the american people. he feels their pain and that this bill specifically is to address not just the tangibles of what america needs, jobs, roads, bridges and transit, but the intangibles that americans are asking their elected officials to work together in a bipartisan way so you're right. he hit on that time and time again that even the audience itself is republicans and democrats and business leaders and union leaders

[ applause ] our work was guided by a few simple principles, core infrastructure only, no tax increases and no linkage to the broader partisan reconciliation process. instead, we agreed this would be a truly bipartisan process, working from the middle out. not the top down. there were plenty of bumps along the way, but we got there because we were all committed to ultimately delivering a result to the constituents we represent. we also got there because of a lot of smart, hard working staff as usual. i want to commend my team as well as the staff of our g10 members, and i want to commend the white house negotiates, led by steve, and supported by brian deese. every president has proposed major infrastructure improvements, they all ha

and so members like josh gottheimer and other members of the moderate wing of the democratic party said, all right, can we get the cbo to score this, which is a pretty basic thing to have happen when it comes to legislation, much less legislation this big. can you understand why they would want that? >> no, i can't because the joint committee of taxation has scored it. the actual deficit is the bipartisan infrastructure bill. that adds to the deficit. this actually raises revenue. and frankly, the economists working for the president are much better than many of the economists at the cbo. it's not like the cbo's analysis is that impressive. they missed some major things on the minimum wage. do you believe we should help the working class and tax the very rich? if you're for that, then you should be for build back better. if you are for trump's vision that we have should tax cuts for the very wealthy then don't vote for it but don't hide behind cbo and this bureaucracy. that's not truthful. take a position. are you for the working class or not for the working class. >> just to be clear h

you had josh gottheimer who spoke about that earlier today.'s listen to that. >> we received a slew of data this past week from the treasury department and from the white house and some early congressional budget office analysis. we're expecting to receive more in the next seven to ten days. we expect it all to match up with what was presented and we'll move forward. that is what i believe will happen. >> so have you seen this data that he's talking about? and what does it tell you, and if they expect it to all match up, why hasn't it already happened? i mean, you talked about wishing it had happened in august. ron klain said that earlier on "meet the press." he wished it could have happened in august. what are the hurdles left? >> well, first, in terms of data, there is already plenty out there. the joint committee on taxation has showed that the numbers add up. the white house budget office, moodies, a well respected independent source of information that the markets really turn to, so that's three different credible sources right there. i c

congressman josh gottheimer of new jersey, moderate democrat says the salt repeal will be in the spending he even wore a pen saying on capitol hill. democrats are considering right now of five-year repeal of the $10000 salt cap in their spending bill in the reconciliation bill. bernie sanders blasting, a massive time of income and wealth the last thing we should do is give tax breaks to the rich. they want on an agenda that demanded the very wealthy finally pay their fair share not one that gives them more tax breaks. i straight repeal cost the government $90 billion a year. there could be an income cap put on the repeal to make it more palatable to the progressives. if you make more than 400 that's the line, $400,000 a year you can't take the full deduction. stuart: let's get back to john nonskid, if you repeal salt, that is not a giveaway to the rich but it's a big tech advantage to wealthy democrat voters in new jersey and new york and that's what this is all about. >> that's what it's all about. if you want to hold onto your job as a congressperson from new new york or new jersey or c
