josh green is the lieutenant governor of hawaii and an er physician.honolulu. you have been a very businessman, dealing with all of this. why do you think your state is seeing a surge? >> thank you for having me. we're having a surge for the same reasons others are having a surge, and that's that the delta variant is super infectious. its r0 or infectivity is crushing cases. in spite of the fact that more than 2/3 of our people have initiated vaccination, we still have a couple of hundred thousand people who are vulnerable and they're catching delta. >> and you're an er doctor and lieutenant governor of hawaii. what are you seeing in the hospitals? >> i'm seeing heartache, exhausted nurses and doctors, and preventible fatalities, what we're seeing, sadly, across america. everyone, we hurt with you. please, please get vaccinated. this should not be a political battle, this should not be an intellectual fight. this should be something we do to save our families from suffering. >> how frustrating is it for you as a lieutenant governor and er doctor to be

josh green is the lieutenant governor of hawaii and an e.r. physician.n the target of anti-vaccine protests outside of his home. lieutenant governor green, thank you very much for being here. i look forward to talking to you because you bring so many different dimensions as lieutenant governor and as an e.r. doctor, but let's start with the policy. what are you telling tourists today? do you want them to come to hawaii or not? >> what i'm tell them is if you're going to travel at all, anywhere in america and of course including to hawaii, you must be vaccinated. do not travel if you're not vaccinated. if you're not vaccinated and you're traveling, you're going to catch the delta variant and you're going to spread it. so please do that. our governor did make the recommendation that people not do anything but essential travel for a short time into october. the reason for that is our hospitals have filled up. we have the lowest covid rate in the state as compared to any other state in the country, but we have had a huge delta surge. that delta surge means o

josh green joins us now. thanks for being with us.ily doing, your neighbors doing? >> thank you for asking. we're doing fine. it's the middle of the night here, happy to see you on the east coast. we're doing okay. it's a troubling time, scary time for people, that's probably why people are protesting. i'm a major believer in freedom of speech, peaceful protest is critical to us as a country but sometimes things get out of control and unfortunately that's been the circumstance here. we've been doing well with covid across the pandemic, the lowest mortality rate in hawaii, among all 50 states, the lowest case count, though it's been tough the last couple weeks, but protesters here are protesting mask wearing, vaccinations. it's a small, local minority but they're local. and they're harassing other families, in this case my building and scaring people from being vaccinated, that upsets me. >> that's a problem. if you could explain, especially why you might be somebody who they might want to listen to. you're an er doctor, explain why, p

josh, thank you very much. greg, was it encouraging you saw some dip buying with some of the sectors turning green?arly this is been a mantra and feeling on wall street that fed will still be easing the policy we still have a ton of stimulus out there. >> right i don't know if i was encouraged or discouraged i think we'll be volatile for at least the next couple weeks. we've just gone through an earnings season where 85% of companies that report beat their earnings -- or beat the consensus. that's been my thesis for a while that consensuswas under-appreciating and overestimating the power of the companies. when i looked a couple months ago consays was 60% or 70% so, you know, it's an earnings season we expected, now the market is asking, what's next? now we're hearing rumblings, the market will look for some clair about that at jackson hole, and as i indicated earlier, it's become almost indefense iible to make an argument that easy monetary policy is still necessary to bring the labor market back to health. absent a couple data points in june and july. we have 10 million -- a report 10 million-plu
