. >>> and now retired army lieutenant mark hurtingling and josh rogan, a columnist for bloomberg viewecuting drone strikes in iraq what do you say to the criticism they pose a risk including americans being held captive. is whatever gain they provide worth the risk in your opinion? >> well anderson when you put together a kinetic strike package of drones or aircraft against a specific target the american people just do not understand the amount of tns that goes into -- intelligence that goes into conducting that strike and putting a package together. there are weeks and months of intelligence put together. you have to confirm and deny. and i was involved in a strike one time not with a drone but with an aircraft where we were literally watching the target and at the last minute we thought everything was clear and getting ready to launch a missile and at the last minute a couple of children came near the target area so we called off the strike and that is the kind of risk analysis and risk mitigation you attempt to take but you don't always get it right. and it is unfortunate and troub

. >> josh rogan joining me to talk about this. good to have you with us. last week president obama and secretary kerry got the attention. how critical was his role? >> he gives credibility to the idea that this deal will prevent iran from getting a bomb or increase the breakout time for the duration of the bill ten years at least. he's a new voice. to add his expertise to this debate will help the administration sell this to congress. i've been talking to lawmakers all week especially republican lawmakers, and they're still not convinced. they have a lot of questions about the deal. they want to know what's going to happen with stockpiles of enriched uranium iran has. they want to know the schedule for sanctions relief. they want to know what role the obama administration will allow them to have this over seeing this deal. in the new york times interview, he said he's willing to work with congress on this but would veto the bill by bob corker. the administration still has a lot of work to do to sell this to lawmakers. >> what about the future of this agree

so let's bring in josh rogan. rg view and about specifically what president bush's comments were. josh great to see you. so this was a rare appearance by president bush because he has generally stayed out of the limelight and certainly out of political discourse. what did he say during this meeting? >> good morning, alisyn. you're right. he was speaking to a group of jewish donors in las vegas, republican jewish coalition meeting, but there were so many people in there you would think that he would know that this was going to leak out almost immediately. and of course it did. after six years of saying almost nothing about president obama's foreign policy he went into a pretty much 40-minute criticism. he said that the president was being naive on iran that this president of iran rouhani was just a new spokesman, not a new policy in iran. he said that the president's policy that sanctions could be lifted and then snapped back was just not plausible. he says that the president is losing the war against isis. he said
