josh: well, i'll say a couple things about the turn out last. about the turn out first. the fact is there were not actually too many battleground states that convened primaries or caucuses last night. there were only two depending on your definition, minnesota and virginia. virginia being the most important one because of the its size and given the way that it was so aggressively ontested in the last two residential elections. i think certainly president obama's political strategist would tell you that his success in virginia both in 2008 and 2012 was an important part of his political strategy. so there's no down playing the political significance of virginia. when you look at the results you see that the winner of the emocratic primary drew far more votes than the winner in the republican primary. these are open primaries. you can go and vote in either the democratic or republican primary based on which candidate you intend to support. it is clear that the winner of the democratic primary is the candidate in virginia that has the most support in virginia. that is an in

josh, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. well since last fall, you can purchase alcohol before noon in the lakeland city limits but not here in the county. however, that could change based on what could happen at a workshop here at the county commission meeting a little later on today. and now polk county commissioners will be meeting this morning to decide if there should be a change in the law. right now, in the city of lakeland, you can buy beer, wine and alcohol before noon on sunday but not in the county. some polk county business owners feel that's unfair since customers can easily travel into the city limits to purchase alcohol. will hold a workshop at 9:00 a.m. to determine if there should be a change to end the disparity in that law. and now lakeland city commissioners passed the law last fall to open up opportunities for business owners in the city. we will find out if the county commissioners feel the same way, if it should be done in the county as well. and you can count on news channel 8 to follow the meeting and hav

what is he accused of doing specifically, josh? >> well, as you said, the allegations are in oklahoma, which is obviously at the heart of the oil drilling boom in recent years, but, of course, when aubrey mcclendon was ceo of chesapeake, that company undertook a huge land leasing boom, some would say the biggest land leasing boom since the gold rush of the 1850s. what is he accused of? he's accused of essentially contacting, being in communication with a co-conspirer is, a co-conspirator company, and divvying up land leases in oklahoma, agreeing with a co-conspirator not to bid on certain leases, and then dividing up the leases that each company would capture at a later date in restraint of trade. so that's why the doj is pursuing here charges of a sherman act violation, antitrust violations, that could carry stiff penalties. >> are the losers people who own the land, they're sitting on a lot of natural gas, and people like aubrey mcclendon, another company, comes along or don't come along and say we want to bid on what's down there and if

josh: well, i'll say a couple things about the turn out last. about the turn out first. the fact is there were not actually too many battleground states that convened primaries or caucuses last night. there were only two depending on your definition, minnesota and virginia. virginia being the most important one because of the its size and given the way that it was so aggressively contested in the last two presidential elections. i think certainly president obama's political strategist would tell you that his success in virginia both in 2008 and 2012 was an important part of his political strategy. so there's no down playing the political significance of virginia. when you look at the results you see that the winner of the democratic primary drew far more votes than the winner in the republican primary. these are open primaries. you can go and vote in either the democratic or republican primary based on which candidate you intend to support. it is clear that the winner of the democratic primary is the candidate in virginia that has the most support in virginia. that is an

josh, what can you tell us about what led up to the shooting? >> reporter: well, we know that the man was confronted by deputies and did not put down the gun. deputies are still on the scene of the shooting that happened late last night at an apartment complex off florida avenue. this all start when had the sheriff's office got a call about a man who was shouting and waiving a gun around at the windwood oaks apartments. when they arrived, they saw the man who has been identifieded as 27-year-old jeffrey casale. they tried talking to him through the pa systems on cruisers as they tried to deescalate the situation. >> he had some dialogue with them. it was very aggressive and confrontational. they kept asking him to drop the gun. he refused to and pointed it directly at them and advanced in their direction at which time they were in fear of their into custody. >> reporter: now we are told that casale did live at this apartment complex. he was shot several times and taken to a local hospital where he died just about an hour, hour and a half ago. we should note that
