we have hurricane jova that is weakening, pulling away from the baja california coastline. but as it does, it is going to send big waves, high surf advisories are up for southern california coastline and for parts of the monterey and san benito county areas. a fire weather watch because moisture from there is expected to head in this direction and could bring some dry lightning. so this is going to start at 5 a.m. tomorrow, runs until 11 p.m. tomorrow night. also, that beach hazard statement is covering the monterey bay, and that is for that south swell that is heading in that direction because of the big breakers increased risk of dangerous rip currents for south facing beaches. so in case you want to escape the warmth and head to the coast, watch out. this is in effect from tomorrow morning until sunday night. as we take a look at the forecast for the oakland pride parade on sunday, it is really going to be nice. mild start. 11 a.m, 65 degrees. temps will be in the comfort zone, low to upper 70s for the afternoon hours and then coming down into the upper 60s as we get clo

on the satellite radar picture, we were tracking remnants of hurricane jova. it's still out here in the pacific. let me show you what's on the way. we did have some pop-up thunderstorms this weekend. a little bit of humidity on saturday. again, hurricane jova has weakened but some of that mid-level moisture still making it up into central and southern california. so through tonight, we are expecting some pop-up storms that are likely down here in southern california. again, for us, we're dry. but we'll continue to monitor that radar. as we roll through tomorrow morning's forecast, temperatures in the 50s with a little bit of fog to start. then for the afternoon, sunshine returns. we'll go a little bit cooler but still going to keep us in that comfortable range. up to santa rosa, 83. concord, 84. 82 in san jose. 70s oakland to palo alto. 60s for the coastline. the other thing we're tracking this week is hurricane lee. it will stay parallel to the atlantic seaboard through this week. then by saturday, we're looking for landfall anywhere from boston up to halifax

now, hurricane jova, that's in the pacific ocean, and it's perched near the baja peninsula. meteorologist kari hall is tracking both of the storms. it looks like it's pretty aggressive right now. what's going on here? >> it's over some very warm water and it did briefly strengthen to a category 5 hurricane. as it moves over the cooler pacific water, it's going to continue to weaken. right now it is a category 2 hurricane moving to the west-northwest at 16 miles per hour. this will continue to weaken and is not expected to maintain that great intensity that we saw earlier with jova. now, this also will remain a tropical storm over the next couple of days and then just fall apart, but that moisture field really spreading out and affecting the waves along the west coast, with parts of the central coast anywhere from santa cruz all the way down to about santa barbara under a beach hazard statement, with some dangerous waves and rip currents. there will be a high surf advisory for parts of southern california, where those waves may be a lot higher. we're also going to see a surge

we've been eyeing hurricane jova. it was a category 5 for a while and it has weakened to a category 2 hurricane and has picked up in forward speed, moving at about 16 miles per hour to the west-northwest. so, this is going to continue to weaken and eventually kind of fizzle out in the pacific. not much of a land impact, but it will cause some higher waves along the coastline, even into southern california as we are expecting some big waves there and a surge in moisture that, once again, could bring in a little bit of rain for far southern california but not expected to affect us here in the bay. the other headline maker is hurricane lee out in the atlantic. this is expected to move across the caribbean and continue to maintain its strength as a category 4 hurricane. the east coast is watching this because not only will it create some dangerous waves but maybe moving closer to bermuda and hopefully it does make that turn to the north over the next few days. as far as our temperatures here at home, looks good. not a who

we're keeping an eye on this, hurricane jova, which has intensified quickly in the last 24 hours. category 4 hurricane with the winds around 130 miles an hour. and we're going to keep an eye on this, even though it's moving here, taking more of a western track, we could be seeing some of that moisture tapping in to parts of san diego and los angeles. so maybe a rogue shower here or there. we'll keep an eye on that for the weekend forecast, in case your plans do take you down south. as far as here in the bay area, temperatures not going to change very much going into friday and saturday. but then by the second half of the weekend, into next week, just a very brief warm-up. we'll hit those 90s once again, but then drop down, staying very cool. 79 next thursday, below average temperatures. so what can we expect as we roll you through the seven-day forecast here? temperatures sticking in the upper 60s and low 70s through san francisco. we'll continue to watch that humidity that could stick mostly down to the south and southern california and those temperatures here staying nice in the

this is believe it or not, remnants of former hurricane jova that is resulting in that weather. there now for the bay area, we are going to see changes. so there's a dry cold front that's going to come through and later tonight into tomorrow as it passes through, we'll bring a cooler air mass to the region. so do expect the temperatures to drop tomorrow as we look at live doppler seven, just some patchy fog out there along the coast. breeze is kicking up. it's onshore coming off the ocean. water there, 22 miles an hour in san francisco. and we show you a sunny san jose right now. coastal fog expands overnight breezy and cooler tomorrow afternoon and we're expecting minor ups and downs in those temperatures this week. so no major swings in the numbers. tomorrow morning, the fog tries to regroup. it's not going to be a widespread thing. we will see areas of fog first thing tomorrow morning and then tomorrow afternoon. i think other than a few spots near the coast, most of you should see the sun, especially with the wind kind of mixing things out, gusting tonight at 36 miles an hou

we do have hurricane jova that's in the pacific. all signs continue to show this moving out to sea. but because of this area of high pressure right here to the south of california, it actually could pull in some humidity as we roll through this weekend. even some thunderstorm chance. we're not looking at any kind of heavy, heavy rainfall throughout the state. but right here, you can see this blue and yellow color. that's from some thunderstorms that could bubble up here saturday and sunday through central and southern california. some of the mountains here in the central sierra could actually get a half inch, maybe more. and that's from some of the tropical moisture. but of course, the bigger headline when it comes to the tropics comes from hurricane lee. right now the storm at 75 miles per hour. i want to continue to show you this, just in case you have any plans towards the east coast next week. this will be north of san juan. by monday night, 145-mile-per-hour winds. now here is the thing about this storm. beyond that path we just showed you, it is expected to make an important t

this is hurricane jova in the pacific. and some of this high cloud cover will be approaching the state over the next 24 hours or so. this will also bump up the swell, the waves, especially down towards southern california for this weekend. here's a satellite right now where you can see the low clouds and fog near portions of the coast, trying to push back into the bay. and current numbers out there, santa rosa has cooled off to 57. livermore, 68 and san jose reporting 66 degrees and mostly clear skies. we could have some patchy fog tomorrow morning, maybe some high clouds drifting in from the south and then into the afternoon hours partly to mostly sunny conditions. and there's your eventual temperature range. most neighborhoods will be in the upper 60s to the lower 90s. so warming up a little bit this weekend. we're also watching out for this hurricane as some of that moisture will be approaching central and southern california. so we will pick up a few high clouds for your saturday. could feel a bit humid, a bit muggy ar

we are looking at hurricane jova just off the coast of mexico. this thing has rapidly intensified. today right now winds of 130 miles per hour. now the path of this is certainly away from california. but as i have been showing you, this area of high pressure to the south looks like the circulation around this could actually pull a little humidity from that storm system to california this weekend. maybe even a thunderstorm that could pop up in central and southern california. we're not looking at any widespread rain. but again, we'll have the radar up with a chance of a few pop-up storms to the south of the bay area. all eyes on hurricane lee. right now this storm system 75 miles per hour. the path of this is going to be just to the north here of san juan by monday. so it's just kind of slowly moving out here through the atlantic. now i've got these green arrows on here to kind of illustrate what the extended forecast models are showing. and that would be more of a turn off to the north, which would be great news for the atlantic seaboard. but, again, that is so far out. we may not

hurricane jova is a category 4 near baja peninsula. this one, there's still hope that it will turn away from the coast. but parts of southern california may feel the weather impacts there. meteorologist kari hall, of course, has been tracking the path of both of those storms. talk to us about how it's looking this morning. when we see this, to a layman, this looks really bad. >> yeah, but it has continued to weaken. it was a category 5, right now it's a category 2. as expected, it does continue to weaken. we're not going to see this maintain that category 5 intensity. it is going to fade out over the next couple of days and it's going to stay out over the open pacific as it does continue to move out and not affect any land. the only impacts we're expecting will be along the coastline, there may be higher waves. there's a beach hazard statement in effect anywhere from santa cruz all the way down to close to santa barbara area and then there's a high surf advisory in effect for the l.a. coastline. we're going to see some of that moisture
