. >>> fox 29's jennifer joyce shows us how. ♪ >> reporter: young, beautiful and violently murdered. 20iring living in stratford new jersey was found dead inside her apartment on october 22nd 1973. her body was physically abused, she was strangled. her killer has not been found. now 41 years later the stratford police department in camden county prosecutor's office -- >> we'd like to get two pictures out there. >> reporter: are reopening the case. aggressively pursuing justice but they need your help. >> we think that there's somebody in this area camden county that has information. >> reporter: she moved to south jersey from massachusetts with her boyfriend in the spring of '73. after a few months, they split up. she got her own place and was apparently dating other men when she was murdered about a month later. there was no sign of forced entry, but there was a struggle and a unique clue. police found a fresh and deliberate marking on her body. >> there was a racial slur that was etched on to her leg. >> reporter: her ex-boyfriend s,. >> african-american male. >> reporter: so was the

joyce, karen? >> thank you, caitlin. well known mummer and his daughter now charged in a attack against homeless man, happened in queen village, police say, receipt ' dematto beat the man bat. carman dematto, accused of shooting the victim in the leg. all happened last week, right over at second and carpenter streets. the demato thought the guy was breaking in cars, now both charged with aggravated assault. >> five people died during a fast moving fire inside an apartment near the commuter campus of the university of southern maine. the flames broke out just after 7:00 this morning. the fire gutted the two story building, police say in addition to those five deaths, there was a daring escape, another person had to jump from a second floor window. that person is in critical condition tonight. seven others got out that far burning building, safely, authority say they're not sure if any of the victims are students. no word yet on how the fire may have started. >> and it was a deadly halloween evening on our roads, all acros

joyce sheridan's brother is sharing details he has learned over the last few weeks and is asking for more information from authorities. the mystery of what happened in this house in skillman on september 28th has still not been solved and the prosecutors office remains the lead agency in the investigation of the death of john and joyce sheridan, they are now giving manpower and expertise in this case. the sheridans were stabbed multipeople times with three different weapons prior to the fryer being set in their bathroom. and this means only a third party could have committed the crime. the sheridans were remembered in a memorial service in trenton and prior to his career in cooper, sheridan was a well known and politically connected republican that once served as at transportation secretary. his brother is critical so far saying the prosecutor is totally incompetent and that his sister was stabbed at least eight times and john sheridan had a stab wound on his side and to his neck and was found beneath a large armoir. they ruled out the couple's four sons as suspects but they are not
