joining me now is joyce vance, former u.s. attorney for the northern district of alabama.trump plans on pardoning january 6 rioters and could offer pardons to steve bannon or peter navarro, but for these actors like tina peters, the cavalry is not coming, is that right? >> absolutely right. trump cannot give her a pardon for a state of colorado crime she has been convicted of. she will serve about 50% of that sentence. she is eligible for parole once she serves 50% of it. that is the most forgiveness she can look forward to. >> and your experience i wonder how chilling or how much of a deterrent effect sentences like this, trials like this, comments by the judge, how impactful that is in terms of, you know, warding off future crimes of a similar sort and i think of that in the context of the 2024 election. >> you know they really do have a deterrent effect, alex, and i suspect that was in the front of this judges mind as he sentenced, because this was a defendant who did not admit she created crimes. who did not say she was wrong to abuse the public trust to try to prove t
