that was juan martinez, examining her last week. he was taking it right to her. she was failing. she admitted to lying to "48 hours" to everyone, police. the interesting thing is at first she said she found travis alexander dead. then they realize there are pictures on a camera that had her in his apartment at the time of death so she said she was with him but there was a couple -- a masked couple that came and killed him and let her go then now she is saying it's self-defense because he was in sort of sexual deviant and she was scared for her life and she killed him. it goes on and on. the question is have is why is she even on the stand? can't she stay off the stand? >> not going to do her any opinion to stay off the stand. she has to make an explanation. she has changed their defense. they have to put on some kind of affirmative defense to say she was abused verbally, this was a bizarre relationship. she felt she had no other choice but to kill him and act to defend herself. they're trying make her the victim. the question is, were they able to come back and do any kind of dam

as you you can imagine the prosecutor in the case juan martinez, who is extremely provocative and impassioned wasn't having any of samuel's remarks. he suggested that samuels had fallen kind of in love with jody diarias in all their 30 hours of interviews and as a result not being objective. samuels was also questioned by the jurors. arizona has this weird law where jurors can also ask questions. they peppered him also with 100 questions. also extremely skeptical i have a theory, bill. i think that samuels and the defense the defendant herself have laid the foundation for at least one or two of those jurors to portray her as the damsel in distress as compared to juan martinez, the prosecutor who is a bully, who is relentless in his attacks. who gives her no quarter. i believe you are going to have a situation where among that jury. you are going to have one or two who are sympathetic enough to jody diarias that they will never not only not get the death penalty, i don't think they will get a first degree murder conviction. bill. i think that that jury will be hung. the negotiations in the jur

this is why juan martinez is going after him so hard and will continue to for the rest of most of day been meticulously going after not only this doctor's past, about you how he handled arias in his interviews with her. >> and what's so fascinating is the jurors themselves have been able to ask questions. do we expect the doctor also will face questions from the jury? >> reporter: oh, yeah, because they have a little wire basket that sits on the jury table and they've been writing questions and dropping them in the bin. so once dr. samuels is done answering questions from prosecutor martinez, it will be up to the jury. so he'll have a long day ahead of him. there are a lot of questions for him. he's a very pivotal witness and i'm sure jurors want to be comfortable with what he's trying to tell them in terms of the science behind basically the premonition that jodi arias did forget because she was under so much stress, which will is documented in cases like this, but it is taken with a grain of salt in this one because they are remember nothing conveniently about the sactual stabbing.

defense attorneys claiming prosecutor juan martinez has engaged in misconduct, accusing him of posingans and signing autographs outside the court. joining us now, courtney belsen, orange county california criminal defense attorney. great to have you with this. former federal prosecutor. good to have you with this. let's start with you. i mean, this trial. is there an end in sight? >> about two months out would say. lou: two months? >> i'm guessing. it is a painful, painful process. i think that people should understand this is not typical. we should also sign up for jury service. it is a painful, a terrible trial to watch. lou: is this a failure of a judge to control the trial? what is this? >> absolutely right. when you go back to the simpson trial, o.j. simpson, number of federal judges told me privately, this is a disgrace. in my courtroom this thing would have been f weeks and you hit it right on the head. it is up to the judge to umpire the trial and keep it moving in my opinion. lou: a day in court without the jury present should point out, a defense attorney brought up the fact
