>> juan williams yesterday. he was one of the most inspirational speakers. he had a lot to say that -- there have been so many speakers. it is all coming at me. >> what have you done to process all this? with an earlier show, there are a lot of laptops out there. i don't know if you are making notes or -- >> i have notes for every day that i have been here, and we have to do journals, so at the end of the day when i am going back to do my journal, i will review my notes and see what happened during the day because otherwise it is just a lot of facts coming at you all at once. but from the gist of what has happened the last week, it has been a lot of me turning one side of the house, the other side of the house, and what everyone's opinion is on that almost. >> do you think, before i go to another one of your fellow students, we need a fairness doctrine in the media? >> i do not think so. >> why not? >> because you can go out and get a fair media anywhere y go. it can look at one side and the other side is the people that have to look for the fairness within

and fox news political analyst, juan williams. brit, your thoughts on the shooting and the fall-out? >> horrible thing. disturbing, even a little depressing. you hear the prescriptions now beginning to be suggested how we might address this. better security for congressional members. i suppose that would help. you're hearing, you know, remarks about the nature of american discourse. it's way too early to know what effect american discourse of any kind had on someone who appears from all accounts to be quite deranged. we have an open society where the public officials mingle openly and pretty freely with their constituents. and others. and i think this is part of the risk of democracy. it doesn't, it's a remarkable thing when you see how exposed members of congress and other officials are on the public, that there isn't more of this sort of thing. this is a case where as it happens every now and then in america, somebody goes on a shooting, murderous shooting rampage. that is what appeared to have happened here. >> bret: it's too e

and fox news political analyst, juan williams.rit, the is a lot of talk, talk at least, about a new civility in the way that washington does business, about damping down the partisan rhetoric. does that create any challenges for the new republican majority in the house, as they go back to work this week and begin the work of trying to block and dismantle the obama agenda? >> substantively i don't think it makes a difference but it's a matter of form and tone. for example, republicans and democrats may sit commingle in the the "state of the union" address. i have suspect that people will be careful about their language in the next few weeks, until the aftermath of this hideous event last weekend has passed. but i don't think it makes any substantive difference. there is a very significant disagreement between the two parties on some of these major issues. there is going to be a huge fight. it's going to be rough. and maybe the language will be toned down. that won't hurt anything. >> chris: let me ask you one thing about the langua
