he was sentenced to time served by judge mark wolf here at federal court. clearing the way for his prison. silva who went to high school in cambridge with convicted marathon bomber dzhokhar tsarnaev testified at his trial back in march. silva struck a deal with prosecutors in exchange for a lighter sentence. prosecutors recommended silva serve 18 months behind bars. silva was arrested months after the bombing and leaded guilty to giving dzhokhar the pistol used to shoot and kill officer collier. silva testified every time he asked for the gun back dzhokhar came up with different excuses. silva stood up and offered a two-minute apology saying he was extremely remerciful and time. the lawyer says silva always prosecutors. >> he agreed to provide instrumental in the trial of dzhokhar. >> reporter: silva upon his released explained he never had any idea what the tsarnaev were up to. >> i had no idea what the tsarnaev's intentions were with the firearm. i apologize to anyone families that the firearm caused harm air. >> reporter: he left with his older brother t
