>>xd julianna, thank you for join us. >> my pleasure. >> rose: julianna goldman, chiee house. back to talk about afghanistan. stay with us. >> rose: the war in afghanisnco. on saturday, 30 american soldiers and eight afghans were killed when taliban insurgents shot down their helicopter. it was the single deadliest incident for u.s. forces in afghanistan. the attack underlined the continued strength of the insurgency as the united states begins its draw-down. president obama announced earlier this year that ,000 troops will leave the country by next summer. that would leave by about 70,000 troops until 2014, the scheduled date for the withdrawal of all foreign forces. joining me now dexter filkens of "new yorker" magazine and ahmed rashid, a pakistani journalist and author. i'm pleased to have both back on this program, and especially together. welcome. >> thank you. >> nice to see you again. >> rose: when do you go back to? >> i just spent several weeks in pakistan, and before that afghanistan. i hope not for a while. >> let's talk first about afghanistan. where are we? >> we

i have a little fly air which does pretty much what julianna talked about, and that is usually very helpful. i would like to encourage you to use those. do you use a service dog for a disability or as a pet, because oftentimes, there are people who are disabled. this is versus people who just want to bring in a dog, so if you have a disability, that is pretty much what it is about, that you verbally have this contract that is disabled, and this is the main thing i think businesses should note to truly asked about this for disability and what task the animal can do for you. this is a trustee -- a tricky question. if you tell them about this, it tells them about the disability, too. the cannot ask you what kind of disability you have. sometimes, that is a really tricky thing, but i encourage the businesses to make use of those questions, and it is a liability issue for us, too. and the other thing i would appreciate is is businesses would fix their little signs on the windows. that is pretty much it. >> -- president o'brien: thank you very much. so noted. any further public comment? >> hello,

in order to get christina hendricks and julianna margolies, isn't it in the back of your mind or in someminds if you're too mean toward their movies, they may not be on your cover? >> not at all. not at all. that's the same -- if you establish a line of credibility at the beginning, then you will be respected as a news organization. that's always been my approach when i was at "the washington post," when i was at "the new york times," we would write very hard-hitting stories sometimes and also write very benign features that are just interesting to the reader. it doesn't always call for an aggressive stance or watch dog sense. this is a very creative industry. there's many fascinating and talented people you can shine a light on wore think of editorial coverage. it's about looking at some of the interesting performers and writing and directing talents in the tv season. that doesn't mean we're not going to write a story that's critical of a story that puts on "the good wife" that july ann margolies is in, but because we play fair, because we don't have an agenda, i think we have a really
