here's northern virginia bureau chief julie carey. >> reporter: this is one of two small planes used by a flight school called skyline aviation at the orange airport. the second crashed in a field just beyond the runway there yesterday. it killed the student pilot inside 16-year-old ryan mccaul of spotsylvania. today investigators back on the scene to try to figure out what went wrong. this is what the scene looked like today as the ntsb faa, and state police investigators combed over the wreckage. an ntsb spokesman says ryan mccaul had just taken off from the orange airport when witnesses saw the plane bank to the left and crash. ryan was a student at skyline aviation and his flight instructor was observing as the plane went down. this afternoon, the family of the river bend high school sophomore released this photo along with a statement reading in part "ryan was our beloved middle son, a typical teenager whom we loved so much and who himself had a passion for flying that he'd already learned hi license to pilot at the young age of 16." on news4 at 5:00 you'll hear more from those

northern virginia bureau chief julie carey uncovered this story digging through search warrants. she joins us live from the fairfax county courthouse with a story first on 4. >> reporter: well these search warrant documents that i picked up today tell the awful story of two students who thought they were getting a house cleaning job only to wind up in the hospital. now it's important to note while police have identified potential suspects no arrests have yet been made. but they're taking the unusual step of getting the word out about this alleged assault because they fear there could be more victims. the two women tell police they were at boston common mall in arlington on march 8th going store to store inquiring about jobs. according to the search warrant affidavit another mongolian woman approached them and told them she owned a house cleaning business and had a home that needed cleaning. a man who works at the mall drove them to his burke home. there the women say they were offered wine. they say their customs dictate they drink it. both say they soon blacked out and remember

northern virginia bureau chief julie carey live at the teen's high school now. >> reporter: students tell me it was uncharacteristically quiet inside river bend high school today. they were dealing with a range of emotions in the wake of this tragedy. there was grief. there was shock. but there was admiration too, for this classmate who was so passionate about something that he was flying solo at the age of 16. meantime about 20 miles away in orange investigators were back at the crash site looking for clues. this was the scene just east of the orange airport this afternoon. investigators from the ntsb faa, and virginia state police continued to examine the wreckage. state police also released these photos showing the damage to the 40-year-old piper aircraft. the nose mangled. 16-year-old ryan mccaul was flying solo sunday morning, something he's legally permitted to do. his flight instructor from skyline aviation was watching when just after takeoff the plane banked to the left and went down. ryan was killed. as the young pilot's classmates returned to river bend high school this mo
