. >>> this is cbs news bay area with juliette goodrich. >> good evening. thanks for joining us at 6:00. >>> we begin with team coverage on the fire watch this evening and just to our north in lake county the boyles fire near clearlake has destroyed more than 30 buildings and also dozens of cars. look at that area right there. anne makovec has been following all the developments for us. >> firefighters do think they have stopped forward progress on the fire, but they still have plenty of hotspots to deal with. calfire says that fire has burned 81 acres, which is only about a tenth of a square mile, but in that space it's burned around 30 buildings, include manage homes and up to 50 vehicles. right now it is 40% contained. more than 2,000 people are under evacuation orders, but some of them chose to stay behind to protect their homes. >> i got a phone call from my mother saying come back home because you have the truck and that's what we could use to get more things out of there. so i came back home and the fire started spreading because of the wind. >> the

. >>> this is cbs news bay area with juliette goodrich. >> good evening. >>> we begin with the mystery on the marin county coast. officials have closed balinas beach indefinitely after discovering sewage seeping from a coastal bluff on the sand. the beach is a lot spot for surfers and other locals. john ramos reports on what the county is calling a serious public health concern. >> reporter: a large portion of bolinas beach in west marin is closed indefinitely and the county health department isn't sure what's going on here. they only know what they found here shouldn't be here and they're wondering where it's coming from. about ten days ago marin county officials were at bolinas beach making a routine inspection for a permit request when they noticed something strange, white crusty areas along the bluffs in the area known as big mesa and there appeared to be fluid seeping out of the cliff as well. >> so we took some samples in a few different areas where we saw the substance coming from the bluffs, tested it and the result was high levels of bacteria associated with human waste, so wa

. >>> this is cbs news bay area with juliette goodrich. >> good evening. >>> after 21 years five mayors and 15 police chiefs, the federal judge overseeing the oakland police department says more work still needs to be done to reform the department. this week the judge signaled the oversight could be extended. jose martinez hardy from oakland's mayor and the attorney behind the lawsuit that started all this about what needs to happen next. >> reporter: civil rights attorney john burris knows oakland's police department better than most. he's a gu in opd's decades long oversight and he says the problems are far from over. >> we have found they have not been consistent in the application of the rules and policies and those enforcements. so they have been out of compliance all these years. >> reporter: he represented 119 plaintiffs in the infamous writers brutality case which led to federal oversight of opd more than two decades ago. the settlement required the department to implement 51 reforms, yet burris says after all these years opd is still out of compliance with ten essential tasks,
