news 4's justin finch is live with the very latest. just snin. >> we spoke with dehaven's family a short time ago and right now the volunteers are meeting at the beltsville firehouse and the plan is to leave no lead unturned and here is a l dehaven, 65 years old about 5'9" and diagnosed with dementia and he is non-verbal though he does answer to the name, his name, danny. he has been missing now for nearly a week, of course. of course, an agonizing time for his family knowing he's somewhere out there in those cold temperatures and his family, of course, looking for him since last tuesday and over the weekend volunteers did join in the search and sunday came that lead from police. a lead that the family is calling credible that dehaven was seen in the area of arundel high school in anne arundel county and he may have been dropped off from the route 1 area in gambrils by an unknown driver. i asked the family if they had ties to the area and they say they do have some which is why that is a lead they do now want to check out. they is set

news4's justin finch continues with the coverage. he shows us what the board walk looked like earlier today. >> reporter: you can get a sense of how much snow is out here by the size of this drift. by this hooters sign here, i want to give you a sense of how high it is by standing next to it here. this is really high, really deep stuff. the snow at this point very dense. it's not just powder any more. it has a bit of an icy grit to it. and again, it's been snowing for several hours now from overnight into these hours right now. taking a look now, around the board walk here as you can see, it's just white everywhere here. so much snow, no one is out here but us and a few other people who dare to come out. most of them plow operators, first responders and a journalist or two we met earlier. so, the advice has been for those who do not have to come out here to not do so. and people tend to be abiding by that. we now know ocean city bracing itself for as much as 12 inches of snow out here. public transportation has been called off for to

justin finch will be at reagan national arant for a report. >>> we have breaking news on virginia avenue. we're hearing about a water main break. >> reporter: this is in a tricky spot that's affecting access. this truck here, they're salting it down. you can see the incredible amount of ice built up since this pipe burst here. the spot is tricky here. we're talking about 27th street where it meets virginia avenue. right in the area of the watergate. this is a spot where a lot of people jump on 66 west. all of it is closed. access to 66 west from here closed, the e street expressway, access to the teddy roosevelt bridge from this spot. a lot of people do that, you won't be able to do that this morning. down virginia avenue, they actually have that closed as well because of all of this ice in the area. they're trying to get a handle on the ice because it's very, very slippery. could take them a while. some of the accumulation is really rather thick. you saw behind me, there's a truck on the scene. they are working on t this is kind of a big area for people as they make their way into work.

justin finch live on the scene with a look at how that firefighter is doing. what is the latest, justin? >> reporter: molette, david, good morning. that firefighter is recovering at this time. his injuries said to be nonlife-threatening after falling through a staircase in this apartment building behind us where the fire took place overnight. you can see it's burned out at the top. a ladder going to the roof. firefighters are inside ng of what caused this fire. we can take you down to images overnight from d.c. fire. you will see the flames jumping from the building after 3:14, 3:15 this morning. when this fire is reported to have began here in southeast. we heard from neighbors that they were smelling a burning smell, perhaps a burning plastic and then saw a lot of smoke rush in. that was their cue to leave. you're also hearing from the fire department that 14 people are displaced as a result of the fire. back out live, i can tell you that it makes a job -- the temperatures below freezing, it's turning to ice on the pavement, creating a falling hazard for fire
