justin turner of northeast stabbed one of the officers responding to a domestic dispute between turner and his grandfather on 17th street northeast. police say the officers tried to talk with the grandfather. turner approached them from behind stabbing one officer in the head and neck. the police chief says the officer turned and shot turner. >> this is pretty traumatic for all the officers that work together. the last thing with every want to do is take a life and it's -- we ever want to do is take a life and it's very upsetting. >> the officer is out of the hospital tonight but suffered serious cuts no, word on the grandfather's condition. >>> in virginia state police identified the teen-ager shot and killed by an officer. police say the officer shot 17- year-old evan newsom after he tried to attack the officer with the knife. the shooting happened early this morning near fauquier and stafford county lines. deputies from both counties were originally called to the scene to investigate a possible dui. virginia state police are investigating at the request of both sheriff's departments
