news 6 reporter justin warmoth is there live for us tonight. what is the school saying about all this? >> reporter: well, school board officials tell me they fired holly joel as a substitute teacher with the district. they say she'd been with seminole county since 2014 but only had 10 subbing assignments since then, eight of which were at bentley elementary school tuesday. >> that's amazing. wow. >> reporter: he has a 4th grader who attends bentley elementary school in sanford. he was shocked to hear 52-year-old holly joel, a substitute teacher, was arrested for allegedly being drunk while teaching her second grade class. >> i'm in shock right now. with all due respect, i just hope the courts prevail and they do whatever they've got to do to make things go the way it's supposed to go. >> reporter: she was arrested on tuesday and posted her $8500 bond this afternoon. the story. >> no comment. >> reporter: she had very little to say to us as she walked out of the jail by herself. police were tipped off on tuesday after another teacher noticed joe

justin warmoth looks at their detailed reasons why. >> reporter: according to the incident report released today, the woman who deputies say was supposed to be watching the children before they drowned told them that she asked d.c.f. for a pump to get all that rainwater out of her pool. she claimed d.c.f. did not have the funding to help her out. >> reporter: underneath this algae-infested pool, two toddlers drowned after slipping through a sliding glass back door. investigators say the 33-year-old martha jenkins was watching the toddlers. she was the mother to one of them and grandmother to the other. jenkins says she put the toddlers to sleep around 11:00 the night before, barricading the doors. when she woke you know around 7:00 the next morning, the toddlers were still asleep so she went back to sleep. when she woke up around noon, the back sliding glass door was open. she found the toddlers not breathing, facedown in the pool. according to the memo the state attorney's office released today, "to this date it is still glass door. although important, it doesn't legally affect the case."

justin warmoth has more on who was arrested and what know about this 13-year-old student in it polk county. deputies just wrapped up a news conference. what can they tell you? >> reporter: both the boy's parents and the polk county sheriff grady judd are appalled. this could have had a much different ending. the first time happened back on march 2nd. you can see the attendant walking in the aisle there in the bottom left of the screen, apparently not noticing the 13-year-old was sleeping in one of the seats. they both then leave the bus, locking it on their way out. then about 15 minutes later, deputies say the boy wakes up, realizes he's on the bus by himself, opens the emergency window and climbs out. deputies say he then hitchhiked his way back home, 30 miles from however, when he got home to davenport, he didn't tell his parents or anyone what happened. then on tuesday of this week, he was left on the bus again. both the bus attendant and driver did not check the seats. this time, though, he walked out through the front door. and once again, he hitchhiked his way back to his home in da

((end that teacher had a feeling that 52- year-old holly joel may have been intoxicated. so, she told the school resource officer who immediately removed her from the now here is a look holly joel's mug shot from the seminole county jail. the school resource officer said when he went to the classroom joel was subbing in... she could hardly stand up, her speech was slurred and she smelled of alcohol. investigators say they found some prescription pills in her purse ... along with a water bottle full of some sort of alcoholic beverage. they ultimately took her to the hospital to get checked out... and then she was booked into the seminole county jail on charges of child neglect, disorderly intoxication, and interfering with a school function. the school board says she has been permanetely removed as a sub with the district... and is ineligable for future employement. now, the princpial here sent this letter home to parents ... sayin
