i'm justine waldman and local leaders are already operating on their own timeline some even pushing back their opening dates until least may 15th. beyond the president may first goal tonight there are more than 2 million confirmed cases of covid-19 in the world and more than 143,000 deaths, this is all according to johns hopkins university. in the united states there are more than 660,000 cases and more than 32,000 deaths in california there are more than 27,000 cases of coronavirus and it has claimed the lives of more than 900 people. today president trump unfolded his major plan to reopen the country as americans still continue to battle the unrelenting coronavirus pandemic as kron four's theresa stasi reports, the plan leans heavily on governors and how each state is uniquely dealing with the virus. >>america wants to be open and americans want to be open. >>the president flying to buy his experts on the white house coronavirus task force diving into the details of how the country is going to reopen. >>our approach outlines 3 phases and restoring our economic life. we are not opening.
