i'm justine waldman. after 8 days of deliberations, monterey county jury unanimously found paul flores guilty of first-degree murder. however, his father, ruben flores, who was charged with helping to hide her body, was acquitted by a separate jury. smart disappeared from the cal poly campus in san luis obispo in 1996, her body has never been found. prosecutors argue that paul flores killed the 19 year-old during an attempted rape. he was the last person seen with her as he walked her home from an off-campus party. his father was accused of helping bury her body behind his home nearby. and later moving the remains after decades of investigating the father and son were arrested last year. and now paul flores faces 25 years to life. he's expected to be sentenced in december. the san luis county district attorney will be holding a news conference to talk about these verdicts at 4 o'clock or this afternoon. that's about one hour from now. we will carry that for you live on our streaming service kron on. now t
