now hillary clinton weighing in on what katy was reporting on just a while ago in ohio, kacie hunt joins us now from columbus, ohio. where does the clinton campaign start? >> reporter: well, richard, i think the question here is just how much of a pivot point will this be in this campaign. and the clinton campaign is privately confident that this is something that is going to last for longer than some of the other issues that trump has stumbled into over the course of this campaign. obviously there've been a number of times where people have thought he put a foot wrong, said something that was otherwise unacceptable and continued to roll on, continued to rack up votes and support regardless. i think the question is going to be how long does this continue to last. and the backlash is so universal at this point on both the republican and the democratic side. take a look at what hillary clinton had to say about this earlier today at a campaign stop. >> to launch an attack as he did on captain khan's mother, a gold star mother, who stood there on that stage with her husband honoring the sacr
