[applause] we are honored to be in their presence. this afternoon i want to take a few moments to share the incredible story of mike's heroic deeds. raised in watertown, new york, mike's father was a metal worker and a world war ii veteran. he taught his son that we live in the greatest country in the world and that we must love it, cherish it and always defend it. mike took that very much to heart. after his first year in college he enlisted in the army and by the time he was 22 mike was a medic for the fifth special forces group in the vietnam war. on september 11, 1970, mike was called on his second combat mission. he was the only medic for 136 men

anything new to unpack there, kaitlyn? >> yeah, that's right.s are at an all-time high between these men after the reports surfaced this week that tillerson had called the president a moron over the summer, but when he was asked about him just there, he said that they have a good relationship, that the chief of staff john kelly likes tillerson. he did acknowledge that they have some disagreements and that he would like him to be tougher. he didn't say where. but he said that they have a good relationship. we've seen some of those disagreements play out in the public eye, like when tillerson distanced himself from the president's remarks about there being fine people on both sides of the violence in charlottesville and more recently after tillerson told reporters that he had an opaline of communication in north korea the president swiftly said that tillerson shouldn't waste his time by trying to talk to north korea. despite those disagreements, the president at least publicly is saying that he has a good relationship with his secretary of state.

a real piece of good news coming out of the white house this morning, kaitlyn coleman held captive by the haqqani network is free along with her three children and canadian-born husband. they were kidnapped in 2012 while hiking in the mountains of afghanistan. she was seven months pregnant. her three children were born in captivity. working with the government of pakistan the u.s. secured their freedom yesterday. the president alluded to their release in his tax reform speech in harrisburg, pennsylvania last night. listen. >> president trump: america is being respected again. something happened today for a country that totally disrespected us called with some very, very important news. one of my generals came in and said i have to tell you, a year ago they would have never done that. it was a great sign of respect. you will probably be hearing about it over the next few days. this is a country that did not respect us. this is a country that respects us now. the world is starting to respect us again, believe me. >> rex tillerson issued a statement a short time ago praising the release
