kala rama has just arrived in bernardsville. kala? >> reporter: shirleen, we looked around in the town center for damage. none is visible at this time. however, people are coming out of the woodwork to tell us what they felt, their homes shaking at 3:00 this morning. take a look at this map. in this area here, the minor earthquake hit two miles north of bernardsville, new jersey in somerset county and could be felt by people in morris county north of us. we drove around the area, which is woodsy, forests around here, some roads are narrow and dark. we did not see in major damage, no trees down, cracks in the road. police in somerset and morristown say they had multiple calls, a few dozen calls concerned about the rumbling and shaking of homes but no immediate reports of damage. we are told it was a 2.5 magnitude earthquake, enough to scare people. emergency officials say as soon as the sun comes up, they want homeowners, business owners to check their property for cracks in the foundation, cracks in the road, the driveway leading up t

kala rama is gathering new details from the scene p. kala. >> i can tell you i learned new information about the p in the last 15 minutes from the cab company. that cab was dispatched to bedford to pick someone up. when the man got in the car, he tried to rob the cab driver. well, the cab company says that their 57-year-old driver is a strong wild type, the type that wouldn't freely give up his money so then some kind of struggle ensued and the suspect pulled out a gun. when the two started fighting, the cab driver hit the crater by accident -- crate tore by -- accelerator by accident and the gun went off killing the cab driver. this is a normally quiet area of bedford street. the cab with the doors open and crime scene investigators is a crown vic. it doesn't have cameras and it does not have a partition. police have not made any arrests but they are looking into a robbery that is possibly connected. a driver had a similar situation last week where they were robbed. no violence occurred then but this time it went awry. still no arrests

eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live in cliffside park. kala? >> so far the situation has improved quite a bit. 36 customers are without water. but that is a huge improvement from yesterday morning when 200 had no water and pressure. they are working to fix the situation. let me show you this massive crane that caused the issue laying in the middle of andersen avenue. at the end of the block you can see where the work is being done. there is a backhoe in there digging. they brought in a crane earlier this morning to move the crane. it was moved earlier this morning and it took hours. authorities are investigating what caused the incident and whether the crane was too heavy for the road. it's 600,000 pounds and brought in to build cliffside park town center, a high-rise of residential and business space. crews were trying to repair a censor when they raised the boom. the weight shifted and crushed it underneath. 200 homes and businesses were without water. thousands of others had low pressure. >> water came from that way, come here then that way.

eyewitness news reporter kala rama is live at the scene in sunnyside. >> reporter: in the last hour we got an update to her condition. she was transferred from a nearby hospital to cornell burn unit. she is being treated for the injuries to her face. this attack was just horrific. that woman was trying to get in her car around the corner from the 7 train in queens when a man carrying a coffee cup approached her, trying to talk to her. she ignored him and that's when he through that acid concoction in her face. he then ran away. she started screaming and police say someone called 911. this happened on stillman avenue around 5:30 yesterday afternoon. the woman, 56 years old, has burns to her face all from the acid-like liquid. she was rushed to the hospital where she was treated for those burns, now transferred to the cornell medical center for the serious injuries. she is in critical condition now. i can tell you that detectives tell me this morning they are anna lids -- analyzing the substance. they say it was mixed with acid and something else. they are checking to see if any surveill
