a lot of debris, so they can open up 11th and kalamath. there was some sort of chase with a car and the chevy tahoe. someone in that other vehicle shot at the tahoe and someone was hit in the leg. this is according it investigators. the driver of the tahoe, a woman and sure if she was the 1 shot, she put on her hazard and this is information we got within the last 15 minutes, she was trying to rush to the hospital to get whoever was shot to the emergency room. ran a red light and slammed into the black xtera and the chevyytahoe rolled. six people were injured and two with seriously bodily injury, sbi is what denver police calls itt that came down on twitter. a lot of debris on the street. both cars on the tow bed. one of the questions this morning is where was the car chasing the tahoe in the first place? because the xtera had nothing to do with it. it was driving down the road when the tahoe ran the red light. hopefully this intersection gets opened up sooner than later. >>reporter: denver police say the southbound lanes -- you can see be

the crash came soon after at 11th and kalamath. that is where our shaun boyd is now cover -- shawn chitness is covering the story. let's get the details. >> reporter: we're learning from denver police in a tweet that they can tell us six people total involved. both cars about to be towed away from this scene. we expect they are going to be able to open up this area shortly. this started with that shooting in the lodo area, likely outside of a bar. someone from that shooting who was injured got into the suv that rolled over. it's a chevy. they were heading south on kalamath when they ran a red light, crashed into the other people inside, and we know they had to remove the door and extricate one of them. the one person who was in the other car, the nissan, also taken to the hospital. again, six people in all injured. two we now know with serious injuries. denver police working with the fire department to clear this scene. again, they are making some progress about to remove both of those vehicles and hopefully open up this intersecti

ended up at 11th and kalamath. our shawn chitness has been at tell us how it started. >> reporter: britt, police have been spending all night trying to figure that out. their sense at this point is there was a shooting in lodo and that's why folks were coming through this intersection, they were trying to get someone to the hospital injured in that shooting. there were five people in one car. the one that eventually rolled over. they ran a red light, and unfortunately at that same time another person in that car was heading west on 11th and hit the car as through. the chevy rolls over, five people inside. firefighters on scene to extricate one person, actually removing the door off the side of the car to get to that person. all of them taken to the hospital. the driver of that other car, the nissan suv, also taken to the hospital. so six in all. later denver police telling us that two people have serious injuries at the hospital. but it's unclear who they are, including if they are one of the people who were injure
