in what sense does congresswoman gabbard say kamala harris' campaign is entirely alive?it's about her criminal justice reform record and i want to pull the boat from gabbard today that she tweeted out doubling down. here she says kemal is an entire campaign is based on a lie. that is attorney general of california, fighting for the press and criminal justice reform but her criminal justice record shows that her policies exemplified the worst aspects of her criminal justice system. and she really put senator kamala harris on blast last week and a second round of debates. watch this. >> she put over 1500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana. she blocked evidence that would have freed and is sent men from death row until the courts forced her to do so good she kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of california and she fought to keep past detail system in place that impacts the poor people in the worst kind of way. >> so a pretty brutal line of attack

and that's exactly what kamala harris tried to do at about a very nuanced proposal. that was her health care plan. i had the opportunity to go through that white page there, but it was suddenly kamala harris that was trying to describe to the american public what her plan actually was and offer up that context. now it's a matter of how did iowa caucus five months from now, not only going into these debates but going to campaign events and trying to articulate exactly what her plan is and why it is that middle ground between where somebody like joe biden is with the public option and where bernie sanders and elizabeth warren are. a campaign adviser told me earlier that there's no need to be concerned after last night, that, you know, you should expect to be on that campaign stage and to be taking that fire. and it's a matter of holding firm and showing that you're willing to defend yourself and say like for her criminal justice background it's a net positive going ahead towards a general election. >> all right. thank you so much for being out on the trail. we apprecia

, 32% for biden, kamala harris back at 7%. we've seen this in a few different polls and think back to just two months ago, that first democratic debate here on nbc, you had that showdown, kamala harris went after joe biden, seemed to catch him flat footed. remember, there were polls that came out in the week or two after that debate this had biden support crash into the low 20s, kamala harris surging close to 20%. that happened in the course of the summer, yet here we are at the end of the summer, she has regressed, biden surged back into a lead in this thing in the low 30s. they're back where they started basically. i think it showed you kamala harris obviously in sort of that rehearsed moment she pulled off on the debate stage, she did herself some good. she was not able to follow up on that and again, as you guys were talking about there a minute ago, i think that second debate and tulsi gabbert and that exchange might have knocked her back a little bit. >> what about the one percenters? are we going to see other people dro

i thought kamala harris had to defend her record. i th k there's more opportuniin , and i think part of what voters -- at leastoromen of color that iwith every day -- are looking for is an opportunity for her to explain in more detail her record i mean, we're looking for authenticity, vulnerability. it's -- it's, you know, kind of leading with the heart. but i haan always said that anydate, including kamala harris, is gonna have to do three things to be successful in this primary. the first is take a bold stand for racial justice, which is why she shot up in the polls after thfirst debate. two, she has to show clear moral leadership in the face of trump and his misdeeds. and, three, actually organize a multiracl coalition in the states she needs to win. onmavery box, she's actuallyn, and so i think she comwe out of this debate thi still as a front-runner and still strong. lagos: tyrone, you know, you spent time in flint, michigan, before this debate talking to a community that's really been beset by economic, environmental challenges
