this is suburban kansas city. what do officials know about the origins of what appear to be hate crimes? >> well, they know that since this happened in broad daylight on a quiet peaceful sunday afternoon on the eve of passover, they believe and seems to be no doubt that this frazier glenn cross is the man responsible for all of this. he's in custody and arrested in a school year moments after the shooting. in addition to killing three people allegedly, there were two other people who were shot at that he apparently missed and apparently was arnled with a shotgun and hand gun, weapons. we hope to hear more about the case against him at this press brief being, in particular whether he'll be charged with hate crimes or premeditated murder. he's being held in jail at this hour. we've also been hearing from the people in the community who want to focus on the victims as well, of course. they want to focus on dr. william lewis and his grandson who were at that community center, i believe for a competition, a student com

waiting for a update press conference from police after three deadly shootings at jewish centers in kansas city. the press conference hasn't started yet. we will bring it to you when it started. let me tell you what we know: three were killed. a 15-year-old boy is in critical condition. police do have what they are calling a "person of interest" in custody. the f.b.i. is now assisting in the investigation. this began at 1:00 o'clock this afternoon central time. police say a gunman opened fire in the parking lot outside the jewish community center of greater kansas city killing two people there at the time, while children were inside for a talent competition. the shooter moved to an assisted living center a few blocks away, killing another person there at the village shalom and police arrested the suspect at an elementary school. witnessing say the spree may have been racially motivated. you can see the suspect put into the cop car by police. he shouted "heil hitter" to the news cameras as he was led away. lockdown has been lifted at both locations and both are still at the crime scene and
