los angeles mayor karen bass says she believes people in her city deserve fair contracts. in all industries, including entertainment. and she wants to see a fair contract reached soon. well, the strike clock is now ticking for workers at ups. negotiations between the delivery company and the teamsters union, which represents 340,000 workers, have been at a standstill for more than a week with a deadline for a new contract approaching fast. economists say a walkout could cause billions of dollars in economic damage. the head of the union says he's asked the white house not to intervene if workers end up going on strike. we have taken a strong position with the white house that, you know, my neighborhood where i grew up in boston, that if two people had a disagreement and you had nothing to do with it, you just kept walking and we echoed that to the white house on numerous occasions. and we don't need anybody getting involved in this fight. the contract deadline for ups and the union representing its workers is july 31st. the white house is raising concerns about a proposal
