it is with that that i bring up miss karen bishop. [applause] >> i wanted to interrupt. i am dennis. many decades ago, about 13 or 14 superintendents' ago, karen and i started off at a junior high school together. karen came straight over from high school where she worked as a library tech. we have been working together since that time in all of the things we have done together in the school district. whether you want to blame the middle school for it, the water that runs under the school, or whether it is just some shared interest? she has been active in sciu since it only had four digits in its number. it was a great pleasure. i want to get out of the way so that she can call karen to the microphone and take her picture. >> not yet. any comments for the board? yes, no? yes, no? >> i have one comment. i would like to add to this. karen bishop is so well respected in the district. those of us on the other side of the bargaining table, i can speak for all of us that she represented her members very well. she is a very, very fine person and we wish her the best. [applause]

and karen bishop, who has worked in this district for many years.he will be recognized for all of the contributions she has made throughout the school years. when we look at these two individuals, i hope that everybody stopped a moment to think about all of the unsung heroes, people like the two that are being highlighted. we cannot have such a great environment in san francisco if that were not for great people like this. let's start concentrating on all of the great things that people do here. the random acts of kindness that make the school district a much better place for everybody. >> members of the board had received the report on the tdap, the update on the shots. some of it looks like it is going to be a big challenge. a school that has 35% compliance is going to be pretty empty. could you give us this electronically so that we know what these numbers mean? 85% means that there are 20 kids or 400 kids would be good to know. >> item c is our recognitions and resolutions. there are several people that we will be recognizing. we are going to th

today is karen bishop day so kudos go out to her. and i want you to know that later on this evening we have a great presentation. we're going to talk a little bit about facilities and it's kind of interesting. this last week, you know, several board members, myself, we attended two hundredth anniversaries, schools, including glen park and last week, cleveland elementary school had their hundredth anniversary. tomorrow, jean parker is having their 100th anniversary and george washington high school is celebrating their 75th anniversary and we'll honor them this evening and when you look at that and you look at the presentation that will take place later on in the meeting about our facilities. david golden will update us on our facilities and when you have schools over 100 years old and you look at the work put into them to make sure kids feel valued when a walk into a school that's nice and clean, shiny, and looks marvelous. i think it's a tribute to this community of san francisco stepping forward and caring so much about their child
