let's bring in karen greenberg she is the director of center national security for the university school of north joins us from pound range in new york state many thanks for speaking to us karen what did you make of the democrats' case 7 days when it changed the mind of those 17 republicans needed to convict the president. it's very good question that it doesn't look like it's going to change their minds but i think there's a further question which is will it change the minds of the american public in will appeal lost some of the people who are referred to as the base or supporters and voters be donald trump and that will determine what happens in the future so i think it's really there are really 2 issues here and i think democrats know what they're playing as they're playing to other people in that they're also playing to the country at large do you think the same page turns out process was a risk to the democrats you know and i actually as i'm watching it play out less and less that that belly of the conclusion or assertion i think it's actually been quite interesting to have to watch
