. >>> i want to turn immediately now to our karen maginnis and we're talking about more rain.w much more are we talking about? >> this is further upstream. also in the southern mississippi, they are looking at rain, as well. the ohio river valley and central mississippi river valley all expecting about three to six inches of rainfall within the next five days. but some of these areas are going to pick up a lot more than that. but let's show you what's happening as far as the river is concerned. here's the precipitation forecast as we look into the next five days. as i mentioned, the heaviest is going to be for the ohio river valley, extending towards st. louis. how does this affect people down stream? well, it's exasperating to say the least. i think we're fought going to see any significant fluctuation that takes place in places like natchez and vicksburg and in baton rouge. the frustration factor more than anything. we'll see these little crests every now and again. it will kind of ebb and flow. it's going to stay high for the next several weeks. we're looking even into mid-

let me bring in karen maginnis, once again.a lot of weather lately, but we forget, hurricane season is here. that could complicate things further. >> national hurricane center said we might see a little bit above average season coming up. a typical season we might see about six hurricanes. at least that has been the average over the past 60 years. national hurricane center says, well, we think this year we're going to have between 6 and 10. they're a little more aggressive about thinking we could see a season where there could be more hurricane activity. well, last year, we saw twice the annual average. we saw 12 hurricanes and you're wondering, i don't remember a specific hurricane affecting the united states. there really weren't that many. one brushed by the coast of north carolina, another in south texas. most of them were across the caribbean basin. they moved across the yucatan and moved inis to central america and we had hundreds of deaths reported from hurricanes, but none of them made a direct strike on the united stat

karen maginnis has all the details. >> and, yes, we're looking at some pretty good thunderstorms thatbeen rumbling across the eastern third of france extending towards switzerland, us a tree, a also into germany. there have been reports in the last 24 hours that as much as 40 millimeters of rainfall. so some brief but heavy downpours, also some lightning. and there is the possibility we could see an isolated tornado or two. it will be a fairly slow moving weather system that's going to try to progress further towards the east, but a lot of that energy going more towards the north and towards the northeast. but in sharp contrast to that, take a look at these temperatures for wednesday. 30 expected in kiev, london a mixture of clouds and 21 for a high. where you see the darker green shaded area, that's where temperatures will be cooler thanks to cloud cover, rain showers and isolated strong to severe thunderstorms. across the south central united states, a fire danger has been very high. what we have seen across the panhandle of texas, take a look at this, in amarillo, they've been batt
