cnn meteorologist karen maginnis is here. karen, we're hearing a bus has overturned in indiana. what do we know? >> it was on interstate 69. it was the murray state in kentucky, the women's athletics. they were on their way, in a minivan, to an event, but they hit a patch of ice, and the minivan rolled over. they said there were about nine injuries. two were transported to the hospital. the injuries are believed to be nonlife threatening. and it looks like in spite of how disastrous this actually looks, very few injuries, they were transported, but this was due to hitting some ice on some of the interstates there. well, the storm system is expected to move fairly rapidly towards east, but right now, the critical zone is going to be in this tristate area, tennessee into north carolina, and georgia. this is what we're looking at, the worsening of the icing conditions now. i want to show you what happened in the past 12 to 24 hours. this coming out of utah, around provo. this from our i-reporter, lane russell. look at the video. and he says that in provo, at byu university, that th

karen maginnis is at cnn weather center in florida. good morning, karen. morning, guys. well, we've got some very unsettled weather to tell you about from the mid-atlantic down towards texas with texas looking at pretty strong thunderstorms. right now it's houston, up at college station, thunderstorms rumbling around there, also into arkansas. but in portions of oklahoma and kansas, the roads have become very icy. very treacherous driving conditions expected there. the tennessee valley and then toward the mid-atlantic, the rainfall, a little bit less than it has been. but across west virginia, it's primarily snowfall. now, the bitterly cold air is still entrenched across the upper mississippi river valley. grand forks, the windchill factor feels like it's 26 degrees below zoir. yesterday, they had a high temperature of 1. well, the current temperature right now in fargo is minus 8. north platte is 12. as i mentioned, slippery road conditions throughout portions of kansas and southwestern oklahoma. and if you're just getting up, be aware of that situation.

karen maginnis with a look at the weather across the country. >> good morning.eah, we were kind of testing out quadranted meteor showers this morning, as well. and just before dawn, it should be the most lively. and for the eastern seaboard, we might see a few hours here. galveston, they saw over four inches of rainfall. it was a daily record. typically for the entire month of january, they see just a little over four inches. so they've seen a month's worth already. all the way from houston to atlanta to washington, d.c., this is where we're seeing the messiest weather. so for travelers if you're going anywhere out of houston's international airport, you'll have to dodge the showers. but right now, we're not looking at delays there. most of the precipitation in the form of ice or maybe snow is really not making it to the ground. occasionally you might see a little of that right around washington, d.c. extending over towards delaware, but for the most part, that's moving out fairly quickly. and then the deeply cold air can be found across northern new england. ta

karen maginnis is here. it was a false alarm here in atlanta.nds of advisories out and that's what we were expecting. a lot of that moved across kentucky and into tennessee and northern alabama and moving out fairly quickly now. as it does it is making its way into this tri-state area extreme northeastern sections of georgia and north carolina and into tennessee. kind of this area right now. they are saying some of the cars are off the roads as you head towards that asheville, north carolina, area because they have mixed precipitation and also in knoxville and oak ridge, tennessee. not just ice, frozen precipitation, but we're looking at snow in washington, d.c. and also in new york city. one to two inches of snowfall. it will be brief. it will move out. what is left behind are the very treacherous road conditions. right now there are various warnings and watches out across the southeast into the central and southern appalachians region where the ice storm warning is in effect across a good portion of kentucky because of the lingering effects al
