let's ask meteorologist karen maginnis how long this will stick around. e are getting nice weather. some maybe not. >> we have entered a fairly quiet period, but, as you know, always a little hiccup and we start the morning out in new york and boston. maybe a few little showers here and there and it will move out. temperatures warming up fairly nicely. it will be in the 60s. 66 degrees expected for new york and showers will move through, as i mention, fairly early. you get kind of that dreary overcast look as you start the day out. denver 77 and seattle, i point out seattle because the winter was horrible, gray, overcast. the typical things you think about seattle. that's how it was. but, exceptionally so. and temperatures yesterday 80 degrees. the day before it was 84 degrees. those were record high temperatures. well, we move back to the east, area of low pressure moves away, moves across southern canada. takes that cold front along with it. on the back side of this, it's going to start to fill in. so, that cold air, exceptionally cold for this time of y

and karen maginnis has been following this very closely. good morning to you, karen. are things looking there now? >> we are expecting a round of rainfall. but let me qualify this. and that is we're watching this cluster of showers and a few thunderstorms making its way along interstate 10. it is been holding together fairly well. maybe just weakening just a little bit on this eastern edge, but we expect within the next hour it is going to trek its way across interstate 10 across san antonio. you may see some brief heavy rainfall or moderate rainfall, but i think in the overall picture we're not looking at anything that is going to make things worse as far as flooding goes. there's already a flood watch as well as a flood warning all around the san antonio metro area. so watch out for that. the rainfall totals are expected to be maybe an inch, possibly two inches. that's the worst case scenario. this is coming out of the west. yesterday, that eight to ten inches of rainfall was fueled by moisture that was coming in from the southeast from the gulf of mexico. so that b

karen maginnis is in the weather center and this flash flooding coming as a result of a whole lot ofrlier, right. >> this is a one-day event. back in 1998 it was several days. some areas picked up about 22 inches of rain. there is a comparison between these two. this ten plus inches of rainfall around san antonio, this happened just today. it has set a daily rainfall total. want to show you one of the broader pictures. why did this happen? all of this moisture being attacked from the gulf of mexico and this was essentially training, meaning one cell would move over and then another one and i am sure it was frightening for people to see this volume of rainfall and currently there is a flash flood emergency. the one fatality that we have reported so far, a woman, who was found in the flood waters and her abandoned car. they say don't drown, turn around. that's what you need to do. what do we expect for san antonio as we go through the afternoon and evening hours? this is already tapering off. already this has been severe. earlier we did see some rescue operations. numerous rescues, wat
