we want to go straight now to cnn, our severe weather center where meteorologist karen mcginnis has theent and dangerous storms erupting across eastern and southeastern texas. also west texas. this blew up just about two hours ago. we have two tornado watches. one for extreme southeastern texas. the other for west texas from lubbock to del rio. the other from corpus christi to houston. not only are we seeing strong to severe thunderstorms, which have the potential to produce tornadoes, but also the very heavy downpours and that will be the big problem because we've got such low visibility because of the rainfall, if a tornado does develop, it is going to be rain wrapped. you are not going to see it touch down. we've had some reports of some damage. could have been thunderstorm damage, but could also have been small tornadic damage. no reports of any injuries or anything. let's move on and show you what's happening as we get a little bit further toward the south. this is a tornado warning. here is stenton, here is corpus chris christi. the cells moving to the northeast 20 to 30 miles per

. >> what will the weather week look like, karen mcginnis? >> we do start the morning out kind of with that pesky area of low pressure continuing to usher in some rain showers and cloudy skies into the northeast and new england. so, right along that i-95 corridor, we'll keep the clouds and showers there. also in the pacific northwest. but you look pretty much everywhere else, and it's going to remain fairly quiet over the next couple of days, so quiet, in fact, those temperatures are really going to make quite the jump in the south-central u.s. but look at the nice, warm weather we're expecting across the eastern third of the u.s. so, you may not see record-setting temperatures, but at least you're going to be a little bit more near normal. new york city expecting 67, 66, 68 by the middle of the workweek. washington, d.c., can't rule out a shower or two, at least the start of the workweek. but as we move into the afternoon hours for dallas and wichita and kansas city, oklahoma city, in the 90s. these are running a good 10 to 20 degrees above

cnn's karen mcginnis is in the weather center. >> rain for the great lakes and northeast and new englandthe rainfall moving in. some areas could see up to an inch of wet weather but if you remember back a few days ago it was the panhandle of florida that just got soaked with astounding rainfall totals. well, we are still looking at some pretty heavy rain but over florida, two to four inches from tampa to vero beach and now the next several days, the temperatures are really going to b rising ail cross the south central united states. oklahoma city, is it possible we could see clous to 100 degrees by monday? computer models say plenty of sunshine, not too much to interrupt that. and certainly it is the possibility. and the santa anas were really ferocious in southern california. we'll see those temperatures in some of the desert regions top out at in the triple digits but it looks like by monday we'll see those temperatures back off a few degrees so not so bad as we go into the beginning of the work week. still a little on the toasty side but near normal temperatures from boston to new yor

karen mcginnis is tracking the forecast. >> john and christine, we saw severe thunderstorms erupt across a good portion of texas. it's kind of wiped things out as far as the celebration goes for the memorial holiday. and now there's round two for texas again! look at this area where we've got shaded in yellow. we could see strong to severe thunderstorms, in places around dallas to galveston, all the way into houston again. with scattered showers and storms expected across the southeast, the mid-atlantic, and yes, into the northeast, but at least those temperatures are going to be warm. they'll be running about ten degrees above where they should be for this time of the year. look for 86 in new york city, 89 in washington, d.c., 86 in chicago, 84 in minneapolis. that's way above where it should be. but they start to back off a little bit more by the middle of the workweek. we start to see some of that moisture again as these little ripples in the atmosphere kind of trigger those showers and storms. some of them could be strong to severe. and yes, texas is still left in there on wednesday
