here's meteorologist kari hall. hi, kari. >> hi. the weather is getting it right finally. here in the last day of the month we're getting some rain. and it's been so dry all month long with not even getting the average amount of rain. a welcome sight in san francisco, a few raindrops on the lens. as we take a live look at sunol you see the cloud cover and it is much cooler there. a few drops. we haven't seen much rain in the east bay or at least over towards sunol and up toward belvedere little bit of light showers coming down. this is what it looks like on radar. and we're seeing some amounts of rain here maybe a little bit heavier than what is actually hitting the ground. but still our atmosphere's getting primed for some of that rain to continue to make it down to the surface. so we're seeing that rain moving over toward brentwood and danville right now. also concord and farther off towards the north and east. a closer look at what's been happening for the pags hour so as you go towards san francisco, you're not seeing as much rain right now. in fact, kind of in a hole.

let's check in with kari hall to see if sprinkles will be in our neighborhood. good morning. >> good morning. yes a close eye on the radar this morning as i watch a cluster of showers approach northern california. and we are seeing it still offshore. that will be moving into the bay area as we go through the day. so looking at that much needed rain as we start out with mostly clear skies it's in the mid to upper 50s. 61 in the east bay. high of 71 degrees. we should all see rain at some point, some heavier than others. the north bay where we will see the most amount of rain. i'll be telling you what to expect as we go into the next several days. that's coming up in the microclimate forecast. let's get a look at commute with mike. >> good morning. looking here toward oakland, 880, traffic flows smoothly, northbound side is what i was watching. we had one crash but a good one over here in hayward, i shouldn't say good one, good sized one, blocking three lanes for a half hour. lanes have cleared and now up past the coliseum, no problems. just a burst for a couple o

good morning, kari. >> good morning.are seeing a totally different weather set up from yesterday. now our winds coming in from the south. and we're also tracking some rain moving across parts of the central valley over towards fresno. we do see some rain spinning up there. and that may be moving into parts of the bay area. some of that moisture moving in as we go into the next several hours. we've only had some light rain and sprinkles across most of the bay area. really not enough to be measured. but here's a look at where middletown is and healdsburg, i was watching the camera and could see water droplets falling on the lens. definitely helping out in that wildfire fight and trying to get some containment on there. as we look at the wind speeds at each level of the atmosphere the upper level winds, winds coming in from the southwest, also at 5,000 feet, even close to the surface we do still see the wind flow coming in and pushing the smoke and the ash farther off towards the north and away from the bay area. so the air

so glad, kari, that we got some rain in middletown. that made a difference. >> that's near the valley fire and 0.4, a pretty good amount, especially in the north bay. we see the amounts of rain of at least a quarter of an inch and then as you head over towards san francisco and much less. and as it continued to cross the south bay, just a few raindrops. it was very spotty and light. but that has helped, hopefully, with the containment. we'll get another update this morning and the high today will be 75 degrees. temperatures climbbing over the next couple of days into the 90s. the weather will be unfavorable for the crews trying to get a little bit of a handle on the wildfire in the north bay. into the next few hours, we will have more of a northwesterly wind and that may carry some of the smoke into the bay area today. so, keep in mind we may have some lower air quality, even though this temperature will be nice and comfortable today. i'll talk more about the heat up this weekend and what you can expect coming up a little bit later. le
