>> i do, kari.ute compared to yesterday looking really good. 6:19, almost 6:20, folks and look at the sensors all over the bay. you have a little slowing for san jose, just a little for pleasanton and 880 and hayward and union city there's a build there. i'll talk about the san mateo bridge in a second. i want to show you this crash as kari mentioned southbound 880 around the crash moving south from the beay bridge and past town town oakland. commute direction into the maze all avenues looking really good. the bay bridge toll plaza trust me has a lot of company waiting for you. you have to wait to cross the span and slower across that incline. richmond to san rafael bridge showing a steady flow of traffic. these are the fast track lanes, sorry, hov lanes. fast track and the cash lanes as well showing much more traffic flow and here is what i was talking about for the san mateo bridge, westbound across the span with all of these tail lights really packed in out of hayward over the last 20 minutes. sl

kari has a nice look at the forecast. i love these temperatures. >> it's going to be a great week, cooler temperatures. it was kind of warm in some spots over the weekend inland. in fremont, visibility is clear and we're going to see temperatures going from the upper 50s, nice cool start and a fairly comfortable afternoon with high there is reaching into the upper 70s. we do still have some upper 80s in the inland valleys. more on that and also some cooler air for the leweek, and mike, we have an update on what's been happening out there as we head to the south bay. >> we saw that slowing for san jose, the crash on 680 there, look at the rest of the bay, looks great. there's still a crash on the shoulder somewhere between grant line and additional issue. the slowing we saw has cleared over the last couple of minutes. it was just as the tow truck arrived before we took t

what are we looking for, kari? >> we're just looking for nothing right now. it's all dry. we've got it cranked up just to make sure there's no smoke or anything. we can detect all kinds of stuff. live look outside san jose this morning, it's clear. let's head over to sunnyvale. temperatures nice to start but warmer today. highs in the south bay headed u for this time of year. little bit warmer for antioch88 and 73 today in oakland. we'll talk more about higher heat in our forecast coming up and mike, you're checking on a couple of hazards. >> just because they're in the report, kari. we'll point them out to folks as they appear on the maps. on the peninsula there's an orange cone left over from roadwork. not a problem from 101 toward 380 and the airport sfo. on the other side of the bay the other incident that's reported was an earlier car fire, as you traveled south out of hayward, around industrial parkway, this may still be on the shoulder but it happened just under an hour ago. the activity still reported on the shoulder but the fire undoubtedly out. no injuries report

. >>> kari, we have a traffic alert right now. the bay bridge that's okay and this issue in oakland around oak 5th on the shoulder. the one in walnut creek the big rig turns out, not just a smaller truck, a big rig stuck in the middle of the freeway, left three lanes are blocking your commute direction south 680 coming toward tree and the truck scales and you see the traffic is quickly building up from the 242 merge so that will be an issue. the first commute off the start is coming out of antioch for highway 4 and traveling westbound over in through bay point, concord, and again through pleasant hill and that's where things really jam up as you're down to just about two lanes traveling south toward the walnut creek interchange. there's been no expected time for the lanes to open. chp is trying to figure out what to do because the truck has locked up brakes. we'll figure out when they can get a crew there and track it and send it back to you. >> thanks, mike. 5:00 right now. >>> developing a live look at one of the spots in the pa

meteorologist kari hall is tracking the changes. kari -- tropical depression gordon is moving inland. here )s a live look at the rada. the storm is losing strength but is still bringing problems in the delta states and the midwest. heavy rain from the storm is causing widespread flooding and slowing the recovery efforts with power crews. nbc )s jay gray has this update from gulfport, mississippi. police are searching for a pickup truck involved in a high speed chase. we saw power lines down. tens of thousands without power. the crews got out as quickly as they could after the storm passed. this storm, though, is not over. gordon moving inland. it slowed down dramatically. it's lingering and going to bring rain from the south through the midwest and it's the midwest where we're going to have some issues. they have already been dealing with catastrophic flooding there. now this storm which is again moving much slower is going to drop more rain in an area that just doesn't need it. that is the very latest from here in gulfport, mississ

kari?ave had some fog and i think for that area, the fog has started to clear for that part of the bay but we are seeing the hazy conditions. here's the fog rolling back from woodside and this is also on the peninsula. we are going to see at times some clear skies today. and all clear skies inland. here's a look at the view of sunol. 70 degrees. we can see that layer where that smoke gets trapped as the atmosphere kind of pushes down and that high pressure is what's causing all of this smoke and the hazy conditions to stay right over the bay area. here's a live look outside in san francisco. right now, we do still have an air quality alert. high pressure does cause the air to sink and why on the last shot you could see that well-defined layer of the drifts of smoke coming from the nearby wildfire and we have moderate air quality although we have seen improvements from yesterday. our temperatures still very comfortable and it's 68 degrees in san jose. 70 in livermore and 60 in napa and in sa

. >> yes, kari. we'll show you the live look first of all in san jose, north 101 and it looks great here. just a little outside of our shot, as that interchange 280/680 northbound shows a good weady flow right here. re we see just about the camera area we see speeds into about the 50-mile-per-hour area and oakland road and also 87 shows sop early slowing. that's really what i wanted to point out is from ma we have mo slowing than we typically see. there was debris and roadway hazardous stall in the area last half hour that may have contributed to things. as we zoom out the rest of the bay looks great. an easy drive whether for the tri valley south 680. for hayward south 880, the crash north 880 in dakota cleared without any problems. the bay bridge metering lights are on, we have a 25 minute drive throwing through hercules, san pablo and toward berkeley. >> 6:02 right now. paying for 911, this may be happening soon for some folksco. some say it really doesn't make sense, since we already pay for it i

vianey arana is in for kari hall this morning and kari -- i mean vianey, the cooldown has started. >> i try to channel my inner kari hall. 24-hour temperature change is kind of interesting actually, so whatever thermal layer we had keeping us warm still running a couple of degrees warmer for the lower elevations. if you notice near sunnyvale san jose about two degrees but in the higher elevations the hilltops were running cooler and a little bit more humid, which is good, because that's going to reduce the chance of seeing elevated fire danger so that's going to kick us down into something a little bit more reasonable in terms of the humidity, which is always great news. now, as far as your forecast for today, i think you're going to like this one, for a friday, look at temperatures, 63 degrees is our predicted high for san francisco, 68 for oakland, and the interior valleys are trending a lot cooler, in fact about ten degrees lower than our predicted highs from yesterday. yesterday we were in the 90s, today not so much. livermore 78, down through san jose 74 degrees and this is all t

kari, we've been talking about that heat today. it's going to stick around. >> it's going to stick around. when we start out with the clear conditions at the golden gate bridge, and the bay bridge, you know it's going to be another warm day. here is a look at our transit forecast as we head over to fremont out the door to the b.a.r.t. station, in the upper 50s. you'll need a light jacket to start and upper 70s as we go into the afternoon. later on this evening, our ice cream truck our treat truck will be at the walnut festival from 4:00 to 7:00 at heather farm park. you want to check that out because temperatures there will be warm. we'll talk about our microclimates coming up. mike, you're tracking two slow spots. >> i am, overall the speed spend sores around the bay are in green and for most of the bay that means the two slow spots stick out. we'll focus on the tri valley over here, 84, right typical for the last couple of weeks, focused slowing continuing to work on that side there. widening the roadway but overnight it narrows.

. >> thanks, kari. >>> let's go out to oakland hills where pete is live for us. what's the impact it's going to have? >> reporter: good morning to you, marcus. there's a high chance or probability of fire danger in the oakland hills. obviously there's a lot of history when we talk about oakland hills and fire danger. we're on hilliard drive. the fire danger is at extreme because oakland fire has put in a red flag warning because of the winds and the humidity in the area. that red flag warning means there could b a simple spark could cause a wildfire in these types of areas with these conditions. now, i want to point out, joaquin miller park is closed as a result. i've hiked in that area plenty of time. there's plenty of brush in that area. that makes sense why this area is closed due to this warning. oakland fires will still have the normal operations but they'll add roving patrols to the oakland hills as a result of this warning. as i mentioned, there's a history of wildfires obviously here in the oakland hills when you take into account what happened back in 19

kari, you have been talking about it. the heat is coming. >> today is the hottest day of the week especially inland valleys. you will feel the difference getting ready to head out. but also, talking about the air quality, we have a strong area of high pressure that's going to briefly move in and it acts as a lid or a cap and pushes down the air on the bay area and then a wildfire across shasta county and the smoke moves into the bay area. and we look at the topography of the bay area where in the north bay as well as inland parts of the trivalley and also santa clara valley we have hills on each side so once that smoke gets in here, gets trapped and we have a lot of people producing more pollutants and looking at a lot of smoke drifting around today and some very hazy skies. our temperatures now already starting to warm up in spots like livermore where it's 75 degrees. it's still comfortable now but it's going to quickly turn hot as we go through the rest of the day. so morgan hill now at 77 degrees. oak listened at 61 an
