we're talking about the forecast coming up with kari hall in just a moment. you spring has sprung. you can wear the cardi b dresses. >> we'll be approaching temperatures in the 80s today? >> yes, it's going to warm up. a live look at san jose. we do see a little bit of light patchy fog in some spots and i wanted to take you throughout the day. our temperatures will be in the low 50s at 9:00. now normally we're at about 67, 68 degrees around the bay area but look at how warm it's going to be. it will be up to 77 degrees by 3:00 today in campbell and it's going to be warm with a mix of sun and clouds. let's get a look at our high temperatures today. it will be up to 78 degrees in santa rosa, oakland 74 degrees. 81 degrees in palo alto, san francisco will be at 71. and some lower 80s for san jose, 83 degrees. wanted to show you our next storm system. you can see the clouds and that swirl there that's an area of low pressure. this will start to move in but it's a fairly weak system and as it gets here it starts to bring us scattered showers for the north bay by early tomorrow afternoon

let's head to kari hall keeping track of what we can expect. kari, seems like it looks like a beautiful day but cooler temperatures. >> feel more like winter with that sunshine. yes, we do still have a slight chance of rain but i think the highest chance for north bay and coast. san jose i don't think we're going to see that much. it's only going to reach up to 68 in san francisco. look at the weekend. we'll be much warmer with sunshine. there's still some rain in the forecast through next week. inland areas 63 today but making it up to 76 by saturday. we'll talk about the forecast and things going on with the forecast in seven minutes. mika better commute. >> 6:30, an improving commute. 280 had that traffic alert. all lanes have cleared. over the last 10 minutes we saw good recovery over the time. a little delay, foothill expressway a good option. hayward, a crash at a street. minor delays, a little distraction on the shoulder. southbound towards union city and west across 92 connection. that's san mateo bridge. approaching bay bridge only 20,

kari hall is watching all of this for us. quite the storm moving through. >> i'm just coming in from looking out there and there is still hail coming down right outside of the station. i could hear it and i was like, oh, i think it is hailing out there. and looked out the window and sure enough it was. so that is the kind of unsettled weather we're going to have today. seeing a lot of lightning strikes too. but most of it far inland and also off shore. at least the storms have quieted down but watching this line of showers moving through here in san jose and then some of the heavier rain moving across north san jose and up 880 into milpitas. seeing downpours from fremont and the al vico and it will come through in waves and in between clearing just enough to cause the atmosphere to get a little bit more unstable and cause more storms to move in. we are seeing a lot of that activity still off shore. that will be rotating its way into the bay area as long as this area of low pressure is around. we'll still have chances of rain

let's head over to kari hall tracking our weather for today. how is it going to look today?to see a lot of clouds as we go hour by hour. i wanted to show you what it will look like as far as cloud cover and rain chances. there could be sprinkles moving through by about 7:30 to 8:00 and then some clearing for the rest of the day as we get a lot of sunshine. another round of rain moving in after sunset and mostly for san francisco and areas to the south with some spotty rain during the overnight hours and then clearing up early tomorrow morning. that's our chance of rain in the forecast. looks like we won't see much of it and we'll be warming up in time for the weekend. upper 60s for san francisco and low 80s for the inland valley. i'll talk about the weekend forecast at about seven minutes and mike starts out with a look at the bay bridge. >> the bay bridge backup is there but it was forming a little more leisurely. it sounds better but it still filled. back towards the 880 overcrossing, you can see the good movement for the fast track lanes that is the option and no problems

. @ kari hall weather on twitter. mike, what's going on on the roads? >> a smooth build to the commute. i think folks are going to like what they say because there are no major problems but we do still have a slower drive for some. you can't please everybody but at least things are moving well through the tri-valley. here's 680 with the typical slower section through pleasanton. no major problems through livermore. castro valley looks great. good recovery after the earlier crash on 238 and of course hayward union city and 880 shows a slower drive past the san mateo bridge. past the coliseum looks great as well. flashing lights on the shoulder, a little distraction but folks are getting by just fine. no lanes blocked north of the tail lights and south with headlights down towards 92. if you're going north to the bay bridge toll plaza, you have metering lights on. here's san jose, silicon valley, a build a little bit right here, north of 680 and slowing around the capital expressway. there's still that crash on 156 that's affecting folks from hollister bu

let's head to kari hall with a look what's going on with the weather outside. >> as you wake up thismorning at 6:31, we have much more quiet and calm weather and a beautiful sunrise as that sun starts to make its appearance over the hills and looking at our school day forecast, we walk the kids to school with temperatures in the 40s, make sure you're bundled up but we'll see sunshine and walking home from school will be much more comfortable with 60s and also tracking some rain although it will be clear today. clouds start to move in tomorrow morning and tomorrow morning sunrise won't look like this one. i'll detail the rain and how much we may get out of the next system coming up. mike, you're talking about a fire also reported in san jose. >> it's the same one laura was talking about. we have a number of cameras throughout san jose and this one shows 101 just south of here, there's the exit and right in this area as seen in the background, i saw smoke dissipated and blends in with the lower clouds around the area. but as laura said, it's an upgraded to a four alarm fire somewhere s

meteorologist kari hall is tracking this changing trend for days. kari, that explains why you have been smiling so broadly through the newsroom. >> i take the credit. >> you can have this one. >> queen b. >> always a meteorologist. we are looking at all clear conditions looking at storm ranger. but just last night tracking a system that stayed just offshore for the bay area. as it moved into parts of the central coast and into l.a. well, it kind of fell apart and did make it into some of those areas and central and southern california and that's since cleared and we are just seeing a few leftover clouds getting a look at the wide view of san jose and the fair weather clouds across the hills. high temperature today heading into mid-60s and that's where we stay for much of the day. nice and comfortable and cooling off with dry air in place. now, as we look at the high temperatures, we are heading into the low 60s and also some low 70s in the north bay but this weekend we could be talking about near record highs. i'll have more on that, what to expect w
