meteorologist kari hall talking about this. tracking it for us, kari. what can we expect? >> we know that everything is dried out so it doesn't take hot temperatures to have a wild fire burning out of control but the wild fire danger increases tomorrow. begins for solano county and lake county and much of the sken tr central area. all of the areas shaded in orange where we have a fire weather watch in effect. live outside in san jose, we start with sunshine and going to sunnyvale, the temperatures nice and tool with low 60s. still at 10:00. sunshine in the lunch hour. 69 degrees. we're heading into the upper 70s there today. just slightly cooler than normal with the high in antioch at 86 degrees. also 86 in santa rosa. oakland today 73. 67 in san francisco. we'll talk about those hot temperatures coming up. and, mike, still tracking the problems in sunol. >> i am, kari. having a problem since an early crash in the 5:00 hour. about an hour's worth of problems. fortunately looking at the map, overall, a lighter volume. typical for the summer pattern. doesn't kick in until la

kari hall is tracking the change and it is a big relief for some people facing that. >> inland areas were really hot yesterday and our temperatures across the bay area span from 58 year the coast to 102 degrees yesterday in the tri-valley. a live look outside in palo alto, a traffic moving slow on 101 sound. just a heads up about that. but as we look at temperatures, it is much cooler today. only reaching into the mid-70s for the afternoon and still breezy with mostly sunny skies. if you are going out to the giants game later this evening, that is where you need the sweater. it is only going to be in the upper 50s at first pitch. we'll be at 7:15 and it is going to be windy out there, too. our winds gusting up to about 25 to 30 miles per hour. nice and cool there, we'll see the highs in oakland reach up to 71 degrees. coming out of the 90s in the north bay, we'll bring it down to 83 degrees in santa rosa today. still pretty warm in antioch, but at least it is not in the upper 90s. 87 today in san jose. up to 78 degrees. now this cooling trend continues as we go through the middle of

let me know what you're doing this weekend @kari hall weather. check it out, by saturday, we're up to 78 degrees. on sunday 80 degrees. really nice weekend but it does start to heat up again early next week. san francisco going from 70 today to 63 on friday. vianey has been tracking the morning commute. anything else going on this morning besides what's happening in the peninsula? >> we did have something new pop you. if you're commuting in for tracey, some bumper to bumper traffic because of a collision. we have that accident reported along the peninsula working to clear out. but now chp is reporting a crash along westbound 580 just west of the 205. unfortunately it appears to be involving two vehicles and a motorcycle. and a motorcycle rider is down in one of the lanes, blocking one of the lanes at the moment. you can see the delays backed up through the 205 area. unfortunately there aren't very many options in the area to avoid the bumper to bumper traffic. try to hop off on the service streets. we'll hope the motorcycle rider is okay. share t

people on the road getting across the area and right now meteorologist kari hall joins us. how's it looking right now? >> looking pretty good. very comfortable around the bay area. here's a live look outside in downtown san jose with some clear skies and also seeing that sunshine looking live from t tiburon yesterday this was a different story. now it cleared out and temperatures warming up faster than yesterday so most of us are in the 60s and 70s getting ready to head out the door and mid-80s for much of the inland valleys but today still relatively cool compared to what's ahead as we will have a fire weather watch in effect for parts of solano and lake con tons. of course, also where we'll be watching for the potential of more wildfires and i'll talk more about that. low humidity and the high heat, it's coming up in the full microclimate forecast. >> thank you, kari. >>> it is another top story this morning that we are following today. chp starts testing new technology to make your drive safer. so if you hear gunshots near freeways in contra costa county it might be test

. >> but right to vianey in for kari hall. and we're busy because of the big changes in the forecast. >> that is right. we were under a fire watch but that was upgraded to a red flag warning and there is a good reason why. i want to give you a look at what it looks like over walnut creek 81 degrees and 11:00 a.m. check out the bay area. the warm-up underway. 77 degrees in san jose. 60 for san francisco. and this is the reason why we are under a heat advisory for the highlighted areas. so all of the bay area with the exception of the city and the coastline with point rayes, aside from that this will be in effect through 8:00 p.m. which means temperatures are expected to range from 94 to possibly 104 degrees. so keep that in mind when you head out this weekend. and fire watch was upgraded to a left bag warning for the north and east bay hills and expecting winds due to an offshore flow from 15 to 30 miles per hour and that is where the big concern is, the threat of the fire danger will be elevated in the hilltops. i'll have more

of course the traffic in a moment but we turn to kari hall to talk about this weather that we will have. is the last day of more pleasant temperatures around here? >> yes. tomorrow it heats up. big jump in temperatures across the bay area. nice and clear all across the bay area. this is like taking a look at three of our microclimates looking out the window and the current temperatures on the screen there. mostly some 50s but we have dropped down to 46 degrees with mostly clear skies and the north bay. good day to get out to the park. go hiking. be active today. because it will be cooler compared to the hot weekend ahead. so we'll talk about that coming up. and mike is tracking some trouble for the tri-valley. >> showing the heat in a second and looking over here for the speeds. really come down. look at this map and most of it is looking green. that is a great commute for most of the bay. but southbound 680 is a problem pretty much all of the 5:00 hour. a number of crashes keep building in the area. vargas and then backup, another crash. backed up and slowing from stone ridge down into
