meteorologist kari hall is tracking the storm for us. when should we pull out the umbrellas? >> we'll need it later on this afternoon. we're watching the showers approach the coast. we have the best view of the north and south bay continuing to move in. kind of moving in from west to east seeing a solid line of some rain developing near the coast and moving closer to the bay area. and this is a pretty large storm and it's pretty organized bringing in high winds with heavy rain. by 2:00, we are seeing some showers approaching the coastline and starting to make the way into the bay area with heavy rain covering pretty much all of the bay area. by 4:00 this afternoon. so the evening commute will be slow and very sloppy as we start to see the winds picking up from the south as we see this system advancing into the bay area. 8:00 we are all seeing some rain and maybe heavy in some spots and it does continue through the overnight hours. we are looking at the possibility of about one to two inches of rain and also an elevated flood risk along with some high wind gusts and detailing

"today in the bay's" kari hall has been monitoring the system for us. kari, that rain will come in sometime today, right? >> it will be later on this morning into the afternoon. storm ranger on mobile doppler radar we have it parked on san bruno mountain right now, standing around the bay area. you are all clear to head out the door for now. make sure you're prepared for the high wind and the rain that's on the way. a high wind watch will go into effect by 3:00 this afternoon for all of the bay area, and for the bay area valleys. we could see our winds up to 40 miles per hour, gusts for the hills up to 60 miles per hour. also a flash flood watch for tonight, once the heavier rain gets here. we're looking at anywhere from one to over four inches of rain in the hills. so i'll have more details on the timing of that coming up in a few minutes. mike, you're seeing some improvement in parts of the east bay. >> that's right, we can only say that pretty much on a friday at 6:30 in the morning. we have the build around the bay. we have the toll plaza, which does
