hall and what we're expecting in that lower lake area today, kari. >> we will still see winds changing direction as we go into the day. starting out this morning we have the highest humidity and coolest temperatures but in clearlake it's still 69 degrees. we're expecting the highs today to reach over 100 degrees. we start out with winds starting in from the east. coming in from the east. then we will see more of a northerly wind through the day and wind gusts could top at about 20 to 25 miles an hour. that will just fan the flames. you see with that wind direction it also carries more of that smoke into parts of the north bay. so air quality will be quite poor today. for the rest of the bay area, we will start out with some morning low clouds. temperatures in the 50s and low 60s. and highs once again very hot reaching into the low 90s in the tri-valley. san francisco up to 66 degrees. i'll have a look at the complete microclimate forecast a little bit later. >>> thank you very much. one person has died an another is seriously injured after a shooting

let's get to kari hall tracking the weather conditions on the dangerous fire in lake county. >> good morning. we've been watching these conditions mainly because the weather has been shifting directions as far as the winds. we're looking at every level of the atmosphere this morning. here is clear lake. you see santa rosa. it's north of santa rosa. at each level of the atmosphere we see the wind from different directions. in one at 5,000 will be coming from the east. the surface wind will be coming from the west. it will spread the smoke across the bay area with a high of 97 expected. that will create some very hazardous conditions for the firefighters. and humidity during the middle of the day will drop down to 14%. very dry and breezy conditions with hot temperatures. not the best weather as firefighters try to get some containment on this wild fire. we'll continue to monitor these conditions. for now back to you. >> thank you very much. >>> a look at the sheer devastation that is hitting lake this morning. >> the so-called clayton fire tears through the town of lower lake. homes w

kari was talking about. breaking news we've been covering all weekend long. so the-called clayton fire is occurring in an area in lake county that has been ravaged by two instructive fires last year. we have the rocky fire here east of clear lake as well as the deadly valley fire. we continue to check in with fire crews. at least ten homes and businesses destroyed. 3,000 acres burned. but firefighters say that right now is a very conservative estimate as the flames are only 5% contained. "today in the bay" is live near the fromnt lines. thousands of people live in the pathway of the flames and where you're standing is downtown lower lake. >> reporter: that's right. right there on main street. we're getting more daylight. we're next to an auto repair shot. you see the burnt out cars and off in the distance you see fire crews there. that was a habitat for humanity building. as a result of the clayton fire has burned down. i did get an update about cal fire. we know the clayton fire, again, on saturday off highway 29 near clayton creek and late yesterday afternoon the strong winds, high temperatures lead to spot fires i
