nbc meteorologist bill karins has also been tracking tropical storm debby for us. bill, what can you tell us? >>> well, debby has weakened. we just got the new update from the national hurricane center. good morning, everyone. debby's now down to a 50-mile-per-hour storm, but i'm not worried about the winds. i wasn't ever really worried about the winds with this. we didn't think it'd ever become a big, huge, category 2, 3 or 4 storm. at worst, it would be a low-end hurricane, but the storm has weakened, it's sucked in some drier air. it's hard to tell where the center of the storm is on the satellite/radar composite, but it's located where my hand, is south of apalachicola, florida. now the only problem is tornadoes and these bands of thunderstorms. yesterday we had about 18 to 20 tornadoes in florida. that will be the problem again today. i'm not really too concerned with the waves or anything like that, either, or wind damage. it's mostly just a lot of rain and the possibility of tornadoes with this storm. so, let's go in a little closer. here's a look at the tor

we turn to nbc meteorologist bill karins with a weather channel forecast. that guy there definitely doing his good deed for the day. wouldn't you say? >> humorous, too. >> good deed of a lifetime almost. >> lucky ducks, right? >> yeah, exactly. >>> good morning, everybody. we showed you the amazing pictures of the flooding rains in florida from mobile, alabama, to pensacola. just incredible day on saturday. i mean, this was just off-the-charts rainfall. thunderstorms sat over this region. they didn't move, and it was the second wettest day ever recorded in pensacola, florida. over a foot of rain. officially 13.13. and this is an area that gets hurricanes over the last, obviously, 100 years. and the old record goes back to 1934, which was 15 inches of rain. so i mean, this was still very impressive stuff. and the rain gauge in west pensacola picked up an amazing 21.70 inches of rain, almost 2 feet. that's why they had just incredible flooding. they do have some showers and storms once again it rained a little bit yesterday. now we're getting additional showe

let's get to it with bill karins. give me some temperatures. >> we could push up to 100.close in a few spots in new england over the next two days. the heat wave well advertised, heat advisories for the city, warnings in the philadelphia area. everyone will have a heat index during the peak of the day from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. of 100 to 105. that will be the danger time. and even tonight it's not going to cool off much. about a two-day heat wave and friday will be slightly cooler. how warm are we going to be today? i think the best shot of hitting 100 today in new england is going to be in hartford, connecticut, boston, very hot. boston hasn't even had a 90 degree day yet this year so this will be a big shock. 97 in new york. we'll call it 98 in d.c. slightly cooler pittsburgh and buffalo and as we go through the middle of the country it's still hot in chicago, 94, the end of your heat wave. we'll give you a break as a cold front comes through. notice minneapolis you get a break at 76 with some thunderstorms and rain. here's a look at the relief for tomorrow. notice kan
