. >>> now for a look at the weather here's bill karins. good morning to you. >> great weather in the east this upcoming weekend but not so in the central plains. the snowstorm in idaho has moved into wyoming and is causing problems there. eventually this will push out into the plains. this storm is going to crawl across the country. a storm will take typically three days. this won't even make it to the great lakes in three days. it's going to be a slow crawl. that means warm and wet conditions in the midwest. so as far as the forecast goes the next 48 hours, most of the rain will be in the dhaka tas, but we could see strong storms in kansas today and areas of north texas and oklahoma. maybe even a few tornadoes today. most of those will avoid the big cities. notice the east coast is looking very nice. then on saturday the storm moves into the central plains. minneapolis to chicago down to kansas city, chance of storms including the dallas area. by the time we get to sunday, the storm weakens and we'll see a few storms down in texas. overal

. >>> now for a look at the national weather, we turn to meteorologist bill karins. tell us this is all gone. >> from the northeast, yeah. who cares now? now it is back to school and back to work. the labor day was not the best of beach weekends. up in new england, everyone dodging the showers. there wasn't a lot of sunshine. we are halfway through the hurricane season and we have yet to have a hurricane. there are a few areas of interest. nothing piques my attention. i think we will get through another week. we are now seven days away from the peak of the season with the most hurricanes and tropical storms. it stays active until middle october. we have six or seven weeks left of the active season. the northeast, we cleared it out. if we will get additional storms, most likely in southern new england. that front will sweep through much cooler behind it. pittsburgh today at 70 degrees. it will be a beautiful wednesday with. the southeast with a few showers and storms on the front and down in florida. still hot in texas. all of our friends in the great lakes and ohio r

karin caifa reports. >> reporter:investigators in the case of the mass shooting at the washington navyhave released new information about the shooting incident and the shooter himself. >> reporter: wednesday the fbi spoke specifically about-aaron alexis' mental health and his apparent motive. >>at this point i can confirm that there are multiple indicators that alexis held a delusional belief that he was being controlled or influenced by extremely low frequency electromagnetic waves. >> reporter: surveillance video of the incident. >> reporter:in the video you can clearly see the shooter running up and down hallways and a stairwell of building 197 --brandishing a shotgun. according to police. alexis altered the shotgun by sawing off the barrel and he etched into the side of the weapon among other phrases quote ""end to the torment" and "better off this way" -end quote. the f-b-i also said alexis acted alone and did not target any specifc group of people. federal investigators including the department of defense are still trying to figure out how this all happened. alexis was a governme

bill karin is joining us now with an update on today's forecast. happy friday. >> it is a happy friday. that dust storm was almost as bad as driving in fog for areas of the east, for people that haven't driven in something like that, plus it comes on you much quicker than the fog does. the storm that we're watching is still in the northern rockies, still producing snow out there in wyoming. the high country is getting it good. areas like casper, an all-rain event for you. over the next 48 hours, this is a slow-moving rainstorm. it's going to head into the northern plains. we could get some strong storms today, though, along that front as it kicks out into the plains, especially areas from amarillo, out to rural sections of western kansas, the goodland area, also out there into western nebraska. may see storms in denver, too, but i don't think they'll be too severe. everywhere east of the mississippi is looking dry and beautiful. the only exception just a few showers leftover there in florida. as we go through your weekend forecast, that storm slowl
