so yesterday karl when we talked was a tropical storm. has the storm weakened at all?and that is good news. we want to see that across southern mexico. it is no longer this formidable threat that it was 24, 36 hours ago. i was talking about it with my colleagues. we saw it go from a tropical storm, it was teetering on a hurricane, and now it is a tropical depression. and the reason it has weakened is because a couple different factors. there is a lot of dry air around, so battling that, but also strong upper level winds. hurricanes, tropical storms, typhoons, they don't do well when put up against the strong winds that don't allow formation of the strengthening to occur. however, i don't want to downplay the rain threat. we're still getting a lot of convection and showers and thunderstorms especially across tabasco and into vera cruz and also the oacaca. and you can see the southern periphery of the storm. and good news from the meteorological agencies in mexico, actually canceling the warnings along the coastline. so not much in terms of watches and warnings in place
