so, kasie, we're talking about the sort of back and forth negotiations on this.f it. where are the areas that they might agree and where are the sticking points? >> so willie, the top sticking point here is what to do about something that's called qualified immunity. and that's a way of describing whether police officers are liable themselves for their conduct, when something bad happens, or whether it is simply the police department or some other entity that a family would have to sue. so republicans are concerned about removing, eliminating qualified immunity, whereas democrats say, that's what we absolutely need to do in order to have any meaningful change here. there are also conversations around other things like no-knock warrants, like choke holds. those are issues that came up in the cases of breonna taylor breonna taylor and eric garner in new york. so those are some of the other things here. but broadly, i think they are prepared to make some changes. there's some discussions about whether they may be able come to a compromise, for example, on the qualif

secretary, kasie hunt is here with a question for you. >> mr.et to give to congress tomorrow night. what are you expecting or what would you like to hear from president biden in terms of some of the things that follow under your purview particularly on health care? >> that he's going to go big. and so far that is exactly what he's done. kate, look at what he's accomplished, who would have said that close to 100 million americans today would have been fully vaccinated. two-thirds of seniors today fully vaccinated. who would have said that in the last -- the first six weeks of the open enrollment for health insurance, 500,000 americans would have already stepped forward. all of these things are making sure that americans not only get covered, but they have good health insurance into the future and by god do we need it given things like this pandemic. and so i think the president is going to continue to go big. we're going to make sure that we clearly state why it is so important that we get vaccinated, continue to wear masks even if your vaccinate

>> senator hirono, it's kasie hunt.ying to run in your home state of hawaii for office and once you arrived in the u.s. senate and some of the other women, notably senator barbara mikulski that you found there. can you talk a little bit about what you had to do to push through the assumptions people made about you? >> i was the first asian american woman to get elected to the senate so my colleagues didn't know what to expect. the notion is that asian women in particular are quiet and cooperative and don't make waves, et cetera and sometimes that plays out in their response to me. barbara is somebody i totally admire and we're very good friends but there was a time when i had an exchange with her that showed me she really didn't know who i was and that's partly because i didn't speak up that much, although i was very determined in my heart. so when i wanted to be on the appropriations committee she chaired, she said maybe, if you really want to do that, i'm paraphrasing, you need to speak out more, and i did not exchang
