evan perez joins us along with kasie hunt. hunter biden's laptop, as well as other source. you reported on hunter biden's extensively. when it comes to allegations of peddling fraud. >>, what are the facts? >> hunter biden did try to set up a deal with a chinese energy company and that investment plan ended up note happening. but there is a lot of questions that the republicans are raising. they say they want bank records to try to look at where that money went. they want to see who might have benefitted from those -- from those investments. and whether anybody actually got swindled, which is one of the allegations that they're making. and most of all, they want to know whether that compromise, the current president, obviously president biden and the relationship with china. now there is no evidence that they've presented so far that shows any of that, whether that has affected policy or anything like that. but the fact is that hunter biden did try to set up this business in china, and we don't know. there is a lot of it we do

it is an extraordinary story, kasie, that the u.s. that much money without kicking a ball. but it goes back to the stand they took to say, look, we need and we deserve to be paid more money. so they struck a deal with the men's team. the men's team and women's team agreed to share whatever they make when they perform in the world cup. famously the women do better than the men but the men's world cup is worth so much more money. this was incredible last night. we saw the united states men's team beating iran with that one goal, that christian pulisic goal, that was the difference between the teams. if it wasn't for that goal, the u.s. team would be out. and because of that goal the women's team stands to gain $6.5 million, because getting to the knockout round of this tournament is worth 13 million and now it's half each way. just to give you some context here. that $6.5 million is more than the american women earned for winning both the 2015 and 2019 tournaments. and, of course, if the u.s. team goes further, if they can beat the neth

so kasie, as you might expect, president biden, former president obama, they're in lock-step with this messaging. let's listen to how obama put it last night. >> and if you've got election deniers serving as your governor, as your senator, as your secretary of state, as your attorney general, then democracy as we know it may not survive in arizona. that's not an exaggeration. that is a fact. >> clearly a lot of passion there from former president obama. do you think that that message, that closing argument is resonating with voters there and arizona and elsewhere? >> well, look, we know from the numbers that there are actually a significant number of people who do care about democracy as an issue. it is very important to many voters. but the challenge of course is that currently democrats hold power. this was an easier argument to make when republicans were in power and they could say you need to throw these guys out if you don't like what you're seeing and elect us instead. and you saw some of this obviously in the 2020 election. it obviously ramped up incredibly after january 6th in

there are factions in the republican party there are in the democratic party like a kasi a cortez.ou have to have a working majority of at least 20 to 30 seats. for kevin mccarthy to control that caucus. meaning a new republican majority. i think the key that night is that if it is under 20, it will still be a republican-controlled congress but it will be difficult to pass legislation among even republicans. if it is closer to 40, then he can lose 10 or 15 members consistently and still be able to pass legislation. >> let's move on to the senate. these races are insanely tight. every poll is within the margin of error. we can get into polling if it even works anymore. >> it is a question about polling and i think that will be the most interesting thing the next day, if the polls are accurate because there's a lot of controversy if people answer polls, if they are telling pollsters what they really believe. but to answer your question, i think polling will be on the ballot in many ways. i think it all points to republican holds. pennsylvania, georgia, nevada, and arizona. republican

it worked for him in 2015 as kasie was just pointing out. what this signals to me is, a, we all assume he's going to get into the race. he wants to get in early. he defines the playing field. that's a part of his political success better than most candidates. >> i don't think we should forget he is under significant investigations that could lead him to significant legal liability, and this has to be driving some decision making, and announcing earlier, remember, we were talking about him potentially announcing during the midterm season, because he wants to use the investigations as a way to say -- as a witch hunt against me, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, he held off here, though, because he got urged by republican leaders not to come forward during the midterms, it could turn this race about him. the midterm environment about him. if he announces next week, there could be a georgia runoff where herschel walker and rafael warnock could be facing off in a runoff, how does that impact the race. >> the january 6th committee has subpoenaed tr

let's turn it over to kasie hunt with some updates for senate races. >> let's start in georgia. you just gave us an update on the governor's race. let's compare to the senate race. raphael warnock up at 54.5% to herschel walker's 43.9%. that spread between where the republican governor kemp is at 48.2% right now has widened. walker is just at 43.9%. that has to be giving some of the democrats i have been talking to throughout the night a little bit of relief. we have a third of the vote in here. we of course expect this to be one of the tightest on the map. in north carolina the democrat beastly over budd. so a democratic win here would represent a pick yuf for them. we expect this race to tighten through the evening. we have about 46% of the vote in in north carolina right now. now let's check in on ohio where the democratic congressman tim ryan is out to an early lead at 58.1% to the republican j.d. vance's 41.8%. we have to ask where those votes are coming from. we have about 20% of the vote in in ohio right now. let's check on new hampshire. maggie hassan is at 64.1% to the

. >> kasie hunt, i know you've been covering the pennsylvania senate race closely.uments from democrat, john fetterman, and republican, dr. oz? >> it's very interesting to see these final ads. it's clear to me from the conversations i have with strategists in the state and also here in washington that there are real questions about how the fetterman debate performance is going to affect how this race turns out because it is much tighter now than it was over the summer in pennsylvania, but i think the oz ad tells you a lot about what you need to know because his closing message is very far away from what we heard from him in the primary. remember, donald trump endorsed mehmet oz and this is a swing state. a place that joe biden won where the voters that are really making the make or break decisions are by and large suburban voters outside of philadelphia and pittsburgh. there are some exceptions. it doesn't all boil down to exactly that. but there are a lot of people in those areas that might, for example, vote for the democrat for governor and vote for the republica
