kate bilo live along kelly drive in philadelphia and kate all of a sudden everything is exploding across the area and i know you have some rain as wealth. >> reporter: it absolutely is exploding. kathy most of the day philadelphia has been pretty quiet. we had the storms off to the east and the ones off to the west. now this big lull of rain -- wall of rain is about to slam into the city. in the past 10 or 15 minutes the rain has really picked up in intensity along kelly drive. we've seen about four or five flashes of lightning. we're hearing rumbles of thunder so i put the umbrella down. we have the mast down on the truck we're not taking any chances being out in this. people running people boating along the schuylkill. kelly drive behind me so far we haven't had ton of rain here but what we're looking for for the rest of this evening is a flash flood threat maining on the roads. we know how dry it's been through the past month or so. the streams, the creeks can main the take it. the roads however especially roads that are prone to flooding kelly drive, martin luther king drive, the roa

lets get over to meteorologist kate bilo tracking a system from the weather center, is what the latest. >>> latest is a tornado watch has been extended until 10:00 p.m. that does include chester, bucks montgomery counties. we have risk for flash flooding, storm prediction center issued a special statement these storms have really slowed down quite a bit and they are training, moving over the same area and really again slowing progression so they can dump rainfall in the same area for extended period of time leading to the risk of flash flooding and could dump one to 2 inches of rain, as we go through next several hours. the worst over burks and lancaster county. that is where the and hail signature with that storm as well. that is severely warned at the moment. we are warnings extending down into lancaster as well. seventy strikes of lightening with these cells. we are watching right around kutztown and large hail at 1.5 in diameter this storm is moving east but very slowly at 15 miles april hour bringing to it reading by 6:14. and, exiter at 6:36 ape white hall by 6:58 p.m. it include

let's get right over to meteorologist kate bilo. she's tracking it all in our cbs3 weather center. . >> thank you natasha. yeah, this is a large scale storm. as you can see as we take a look at satellite and radar together the center of this storm across ohio and you can see the warm front draped across our region. the cold front is still back here so we're in what's known as the warm sector of this storm. we have a little bit of everything are heavy rain, cool conditions and cloud cover to severe thunderstorms to the south. a few of these storms over portions of maryland, down through virginia have produced tornadoes or at least have been tornado warned in the past few hours. so we have to watch as these storms start to push into our region. here's a snapshot of what it looks like right now. heavy rain around philadelphia and the western suburbs. portions of montgomery county got over 3-inches of rain last night seeing another round of heavy rain and the rick for flooding tonight. these are the storms you want to watch pushing into portions of eastern maryland so if you're in south

three coverage this evening, "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is in hard hit lehigh county but kate bilo joins us tracking these severe storms, kate. >> the storms weakened slightly at least which is good news. we had several tornado warnings earlier today. in reports if the tornado touched down we will go back to the national weather service to send someone out to do damage reports to see if tornadoes touched down. we had a number of sight goes of funnel cloud not touching ground but spins in the atmosphere. heavy rain in the poconos region but storms are weakening, and if you leave in more stable air over and down toward shore points but still pockets of heavy rain to watch. and, a few storms popping up, one cell just to the west of kent county and heavy rain over gloucester county, and these are areas hard hit last week, some folks still without power from that storm or just got it back and another round of storms rumbling through that area from gloucester, williamstown. i'm keeping a close eye on this storm looking nasty with lots of lightening. this is in maryland but making its way

kate bilo is in for cat i orr tracking when rain arrives and also kate, you've got some concerns about the flooding you want to share. >> we are tracking some of that heavy rain moving in the area as we head into sunday morning especially saturday night into sunday morning when heavier rain will occur. it will be a quick hitting system. it can dump inches of rain in a short period of time. in the near term we have one strong thunderstorm over portions of ocean county. here it is at the moment. you can see red, very heavy rainfall associated with this around 206 between tabernacle and shamong with the precipitation rate of 2.21 inches per hour. these are big ringers. anything that pops up tonight will pre dues local liz heavy downpours. off to the west we have circulation with tropical depression bill. circulation hanging on with this system and really clearly see here moving in portion s of southern illinois, kentucky and portions of indiana as well. all this will be drifting our way, as we head into the second half of the weekend. late saturday night into sunday morning is the time to
