kate bolduan reports.orter: another very difficult day here in newtown as churches were packed with so many people still searching for answers as well as comfort. none of the local churches or synagogues allowed cameras inside though we were invited to sit in on a service at trinity episcopal church. a very tearful service. the pastor there was one of the first on the scene friday morning and she waited there with the parents as they learned the news of their children. and one of the young victims benjamin wheeler was a member of her congregation. the message she offered her congregation was one of hope and finding light within the darkness. as the pastor said that's the message of advent that christians around the world observed by lighting a candle each week leading up to christmas. we even met some folks who came in from out of town to attend the service simply to show their support. >> "tracy asked me on the way here she said 'why does god let this happen?' so how to explain that to my children, so sor

kate bolduan had a remarkable story of a little boy she.rents who ran past the shooter, killing his teacher and killing some of his classmates. how does a child like that who at this moment she described as calm and matter of fact and helpful to detectives. but one has to imagine down the road, he's going to be completely traumatized. >> yes. and ptsd is something we're used to talking about with adults. but you know, i did a little bit of research, because there are some studies on looking at kids specifically. and what you find is after this sort of thing, especially if someone has seen the violence, this is a big sort of pivot point. being in the school, obviously, problematic. being in the community, obviously of concern. even in this country. but if you see something, the rates are much higher, as you might guess. 77% of people, even 3 to 4 months out, had evidence of ptsd. now, children tend to be more resilient, and by that, you know, getting back into some sort of normal pattern of behavior seems to make a big difference. but you kn

let's bring in congressional correspondent kate bolduan. the white house won't budge on taxes. make sense of this for us? >> i think that's a little above any of our pay grade trying to make sense of it all other than it seems that it's one more fight that we've seen over and over again and we are seeing once again it play out almost as it appears slow motion, carol. you mention the call between speaker boehner and president obama. they may have talked. no read out of the call per se. we are still a long way away from a deal that is for sure. why? because at its most basic neither side is giving on their primary position. president obama continues to insist over and over again any deal must include a tax rate increase on the top 2% of wage earners which republicans just as firmly insist is a nonstarter. today the president is going to continue his public pressure campaign according to the white house, he's meeting with a middle class family in northern virginia to discuss as they put it the importance of extending the tax cut for the middle class. they have not extended it for

kate bolduan is joining us here in newtown as we've put the latest information of adam lanza's mentalityto a proper perspective. joining us is dr. drew. dr. drew, the medical examiner says he was told that adam lanza had been diagnosed with asberger's syndrome. what does that have to do with violence because as far as i know that has nothing to do with violent behavior. you're a psychiatrist. >> i do deal with this a lot. it's a neurobiological, and not thought of as a mental disorder per se. one of the characteristics is not picking up on social cues, sometimes so severely that they have difficulty emphasizing with people but categorically is not associated with violence until there are other things going on. you have to wonder what the second hit was here that caused him to retreat so severely to the point that he was in the home, isolated, and a young adult unable to be left alone by his mother to the point that she takes him to the shooting range, that's bizarre. by the way, mom is going to play a big role here. there is not a mental health professional that would say to take to a sh

kate bolduan is here.mbattled president mohammed morsi went on nationwide tv. he addressed the protests. he seemed to inflamed their outrage. within minutes, the muslim brotherhood headquarters in cairo was up in flames. reza joins us on the phone from cairo. we want to talk about president morsi in a second. first, you just arrived at the scene of the fire at the muslim brotherhood headquarters. what are you seeing, and what are you learning about who's responsible for this? >> reporter: let's verify what happened. two hours ago, they reported the main headquarters here in cairo was attacked by protesters and torched. we raced over here. we're in front of the headquarters right now. there's no indication of a fire here, but certainly there's a large group of what appear to be opponents of president morsi and the muslim brotherhood. they're trying to do everything they can to get to this building, and they're being blocked by police. so we have yet another standoff. if anyone thought president morsi's spee
