i'm joined by kate michaelman, former head of the national abortions right action league, pro-choicemorning. >> good morning. good to see you, too. >> what do you think is behind this shift in attitudes? >> well, i think, you know, i think we have to put our discussion in the context of president obama's extraordinary inaugural address yesterday, where he paid homage to the history of this country investing in equal rights and ending discrimination for african americans, for women, for gays -- gay and lesbian americans. there is an investment we have made to bring women into an equal role with men in this society, and one of the milestone rights that women achieved was in 1973, when roe versus wade recognized a woman's fundamental right to decide whether or not to bear a child. and it is a fundamental right and it is a right that is absolutely necessary for women's equality. >> it is also one that's being fought more and more on the state level. in mississippi, the last remaining abortion clinic may be forced to shut down because of a recently enacted state law. governor bryant wants
