but we're going to turn now here in the studio to our meteorologist kate parker who lives and breathess. kate, what makes this story and this particular storm so scary for you? >> it's a storm that's not measured over the course of hours. it's measured over the course of a week that we're going to look at these impacts. so this is not anything that's going to be a quick one and done. we're not measuring in inches of rain. we're measuring in feet of rain. if you look at the radar you can see this category 4 storm, the first to make landfall since 2004, has made landfall but it's not just the rain, the wind. it's a tornado threat as well. so we've got a tornado watch that's up. you can see that extends all the way from just north of corpus christi into louisiana. >> and some of it is the funny loop that the path of the storm >> exactly. look at that flash flood watch and this explains exactly why. this is a category 2 storm inland in the forecast. it's not just on the coast. look how it meanders and these days on days. look at that. that's wednesday 7:00 p.m. and it's still hovering near

and in the studio with us is meteorologist kate parker, who's been tracking this storm. , i know that you're obsessed with all things hurricane, but you're also a texas person. >> a texan. born and raised. >> this is personal for you. >> it is. it's surreal to see this image because when we say a category 4 storm made landfall it's easy to say, well, it's down to a category 3. it's still a category 3 hurricane, and it's inland now. this is not a storm that's measured in these hours tonight. it is going to be measured in the course of a week. >> and days and days of this kind of deluge. what kind of flooding can we anticipate? >> a will the of flooding. but this is brand new from the storm prediction center. we have a tornado watch. and this one goes all the way through tomorrow afternoon. this is not something quick. this storm is not moving anywhere anytime fast. you can see by the track here when you have a tropical system you have a lot of spin in the atmosphere. tornadoes can spin up, not just all this rainfall. now, there's also storm surge to speak of. we've already

. >> here with me in the studio live is kate parker, meteorologist.now you live and breathe these hurricanes, but you're also from texas. >> it am. >> this is close to your heart, i know. >> it's surreal looking at this image, honestly. it was 48 hours that we went from a tropical depression up to a category iv hurricane. >> it was moments ago downgraded to category 3. category 3 and 4, it's potentially lethal. >> when you go through the first part of the eyewall, everything glows one direction. you've got the back side of that, everything's knocked loose. everything goes in the opposite direction. the back side is frequently the worst side. >> there were some mixed signals. >> there were. look at the size of the storm. if you look at the path of it, there's widespread flach watches, i think that will be war. look at how this me anders as a hurricane over texas through next wednesday. you're dumping not inches but possibly feet of rain. and tornado warnings on top of that. >> it is historicre worried abo flooding. >> that's try. this storm has so much
