here's kate snow. kate snow: it's the modern day town square, a gathering place that fulfills our every need, shopping, eating, socializing. a trip to the mall is an escape on weekends and not just in america. in nairobi, kenya, the upscale and modern westgate mall was the place to unwind at the end of the workweek. it was the last place you'd expect something like this. [gunshots] gunshots, explosions, armed men taking over every floor, methodically shooting anyone in their way. that was the unbelievably brutal scene that played out in front of a shocked world september 21st, 2013. just after the smoke cleared, dateline traveled to nairobi. we'll take you inside the mall attack with harrowing scenes of how it unfolded, and details from those who lived through it. you'll hear from two mothers caught in the crossfire. katherine walton: it was pretty terrifying. it really was. it was very, very, very fearful. kate snow: two mothers caught on camera. faith wambua: what's going to happen? i'm going to die.

forecast models are end kateing 40 to 50 miles an hour gust in the late afternoon, and that would be strong enough for the power grid and to make sure the devices are charged up. snow levels are dropping down from the high levels that they were at over the weekend. they will pick up a foot or two with a couple feet of snow as they move into the bay area and some very heavy snow throughout the next several days. and for all of that we just talked about, it is actually a mostly calm seven-day forecast. wednesday, then friday and through the weekend, just two rainy days. tomorrow, rain and wind, rain without the wind threat on thursday. i don't think the rain will be as heavy on thursday. if it ranks as an atmospheric river, it will be real borderline. and then just kind of typical february weather as we head into the second weekend of february, but ten had again over the next 24 hours, just stay weather aware as that flood and wind damage will evolve. vern has a check at sports right now. >>> and straight ahead in sports, a super bowl coach would remember his bay area roots. how do you start a road trip? warriors with the magic tonight. for all those making it big ou
