"action news" reporter katherine scott is live in north philadelphia and katherine, i understand yout talked to one of the students. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right and the students thought that their door was closed. i think from that perspective but at this point they are very shaken up and say they don't even feel safe inside their home anymore. this happened early this morning inside a north philadelphia home on the 1800 block of north bouvier street. the house is just a few blocks from temple's campus. a number of students live around here. it was around 2:00 a.m. police say three armed men walked through the unlocked front door. they were wearing masks and all black clothing. one of the victims told me he was hanging out with two of his friends. they had come back from the bar about a half hour, 45 minutes earlier. two other roommates were upstairs in their rooms. suddenly the door to the basement flung open. the men told them to get down. they kept asking the students where the money was. they held knives to their backs at one point a gun to this vic

live in west philadelphia, katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> thanks so much katherine. >>> wella man has died following a shooting in the city's port richmond section last night. police tell "action news" it happened just after 9 p.m. inside of a house on the 1900 block of east venango street. their office found an unidentified man shot in the head he inside of the kitchen. the man was rushed to temple hospital where he later died. so far no word on a motive or a suspect. >>> and a 44-year-old father in montgomery county is accused of abusing his children for years. even shocking them with an electric dog collar. police say joseph myhre of collegeville punched kicked and choked the children and stuck needles under their fingernails. the children are 11 and 13 years old but police say the violence has gone on for more than five years. prosecutors also charge myhre with assaulting his wife. she suffered a fractured skull last month and that's when police opened an investigation. he's being held o an million dollars bail. >> happening today, closing arguments will be heard in the t

good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam.ren't the medical examiner -- aren't and the medical examiner just left the scene. some investigators remain the crime scene unit looks like they're wrapping up now. you can see that this street was closed off for hours as they gathered evidence. this happened shortly after 2:00 a.m. near brown and holly in west philadelphia t a number of 911 calls came in after the shots were fired. officers discovered the 34-year-old victim lying on his back in the middle of the street. he was shot multiple times, hit in the head at least once, hit in the torso multiple times. he was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:08 a.m. police believe she was shot at close range. investigators marked off several shell casings and several cell phones were marked as evidence as well. >> we're looking for witnesses. we have several witnesses that heard the gunshots, none that saw anything at this point but it is mainly a residential neighborhood so we're looking for witnesses and until possible private cameras. >>

katherine scott is live at police headquarters with more details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right, police say this was an arguments that turned into a deadly shooting inside a boarding house in germantown overnight. a 28-year-old man was taken into custody and taken to police headquarters to be interviewed by homicide detectives, the victim was 22 years old. let's go to the video from the scene in germantown overnight where police were there looking for evidence. this happened in a third floor bedroom on the unit block of east penn street around midnight. the victim was hit in the torso, arms and neck, pro -- pronounced dead at the scene. when officers got there they saw a man running out of the side door, they saw he had a gun on his holster on his right hip. police told him to freeze, he did. he was taken into custody. there were a number of witnesses who were taken to police headquarters to be interviewed by homicide detectives. >> that 28-year-old man was positively identified by witnesses inside the house who said tha
