katheri katherine drexel is known in this city as the founder of the catherine drexel university.a tour in europe that she met people leo xiii and she told them about the plight of native americans in the west. she traveled in the west. and african-americans. and pleaded with him for the church to do something about that. and he said to her, what about you? you be a missionary. and she wrote heart about that moment. how she burst into tears. because, again, she was a good person. she was already doing some. but she was called to do more. i think it's a wonderful vocation story that can inspire young people. she did found a religious order, the sisters of the blessed sacraments. as george said earlier, gave her entire family fortune to build schools for native americans and african-americans. she wrote, as she wrote to president roosevelt about anti-lynching. she founded xavier university in orleans, an african-american school. it's a wonderful story about a woman who gave her life and fortune, also called to do more. when her cause for canonization was open in the late 1960s, ther

think gives us a little insight about where he wants to go in that direction, he brought up katherine drexelress, she had millions of dollars from her father inherited and she gave them to support the missions out in new mexico. she went to rome and met with leo xiii, the pope at that time and she said, we need staff there, we need people to do something. and he turned to her and said, want you? and indeed she went on then to found convents and founded xavier university, which is the first catholic university for african-americans in the united states. but the point about that is that the pope pointed out that to say that pope leo xiii, a wise pope, said this to a woman. so he gave it the onus on a woman and a laywoman, not a nun, to say, what are you doing? that was his message today, i think, to say to all of the people in the church, not just nuns or priests, what is it that you're doing? and perhaps an insight to what he thinks, because of course there's a problems with vocations, with staffing of church schools -- >> in fact, let's show some of what he said about the challenges facing t
